Day 6

Scripture to Read: Hebrews 3:15

We continue on this journey, in Hebrews 3:15, of not just hearing God and His Word, but to make sure we do not harden our hearts to what God teaches us. The writer of Hebrews continues to use the Israelites as the example of those who heard God but hardened their hearts to what they heard. The Israelite adults, who were delivered from Egypt, because of their un- belief in God and His Word, were unable to enter the Promised Land. The only two adults who entered the Promised Land, who were also adults when they were delivered from Egypt, were Joshua and Caleb. It took 40 years of wandering in the desert before the children of Israel became adults, and their parents all died before they could enter the Promised Land. God is telling us here in Hebrews 3:15, not to allow our severe trials, our tests in this life, our horrible circumstances to sway us from trusting God and obeying Him. Life is never easy for anyone, but we as Christians should know better when the trials of life come our way, that we can still trust God in the midst of those trials. God wants us to shine brightly for Him and through our tests and trials to allow others to see that we will not falter from rest- ing in Him. We need to listen to His voice, “today,” and know that He is mightily working and using the test and trials of this life to strengthen our faith in Him.

Day 1

Hebrews 3:1 begins with the word “There- fore.” Many years ago, from Precept Ministries, I learned that anytime you see a “therefore” in the Bible, you need to ask yourself, “What’s the ‘therefore’ there for?” We learned, in Hebrews 2, that Jesus is our High Priest. Since Christ is our High Priest, His sacrifice of Himself did not cover our s...

Day 2

Our Lord Jesus Christ was completely faithful to God the Father’s perfect will. We know that Jesus never did anything His Father had not al- ready commanded Him to do, for this is clearly shared by our Lord Jesus Christ in John 4:34; John 5:19, 30, 36; John 6:38; John 8:28-29; John 12:49; John 14:10; John 15:10; John 17:4. Because the book of...

Day 3

God the Father makes it clear here in Hebrews 3:7 that the Holy Spirit spoke these words in Psalm 95 and that because it is God the Spirit speaking these words, we better pay close attention. Of course, we need to pay close attention to ALL of God’s Word, every day of our lives, but for today we are paying close attention to His Word written ...

Day 4

Today we are warned by God, through the writer of Hebrews, to be incredibly careful that no one has an unbelieving, wicked heart. God, through His Holy Spirit, led the apostle John to deal with this matter as well in 1 John 5:9-10, “If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testi- mony of God is this, that H...

Day 5

Today, in Hebrews 3:14, God assures the first believers who read this letter, who were facing per- secution, that everyone who claims to know Christ must “hold firm our newborn confidence [which originally led us to Him] until the end,” (AMP Bible). In other words, a true believer in Christ will trust in Him and will obey Him. The evidence of...

Day 7

As we finish Hebrews 3 today, we have the final questions of who did not believe God. God, through the writer of Hebrews, makes it clear that the Israelites were the ones who willingly did not believe God. We can also provoke God when we’re unwilling to listen to Him through His Holy Spirit who lives in us and unwilling to listen to His Word....
