Day 2

Scripture to Read: Hebrews 3:2-6

Our Lord Jesus Christ was completely faithful to God the Father’s perfect will. We know that Jesus never did anything His Father had not al- ready commanded Him to do, for this is clearly shared by our Lord Jesus Christ in John 4:34; John 5:19, 30, 36; John 6:38; John 8:28-29; John 12:49; John 14:10; John 15:10; John 17:4. Because the book of Hebrews was written to Completed Jews (Jews who had surren- dered to Christ as Lord), God the Father led the writer of Hebrews to use Moses as an example of one of God’s faithful servants. We know that Moses had his faults, but Moses did receive glory from God, as God’s faith- ful servant, as recorded in Exodus 34:29-35; Numbers 12:6-8 and Numbers 16. Christ, though, was not just a faithful servant, but Christ is the faithful Son, who was faithful in ALL things the Father had sent Him to do. Because Christ perfectly fulfilled the Father’s will, He alone is “worthy of more glory than Moses.” As we see in Hebrews 3:4-6, God is the builder of all things, and as we know, Christ is Creator (Colossians 1:16), so again Christ is more worthy than Moses, of all glory. Moses is a member of God’s house, but Jesus is the Builder of His house. We, who have surrendered to Christ as Lord, have also become members of His house if we prove faithful to Him. Lip service is not enough, but we must live for Him daily.

Challenge & Application

Knowing that living for Christ is not about a “one time decision” but a daily commitment, how are you living for Christ daily? Who will you share with today about what it means to follow Christ as Lord and Savior?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Hebrews 3:1 begins with the word “There- fore.” Many years ago, from Precept Ministries, I learned that anytime you see a “therefore” in the Bible, you need to ask yourself, “What’s the ‘therefore’ there for?” We learned, in Hebrews 2, that Jesus is our High Priest. Since Christ is our High Priest, His sacrifice of Himself did not cover our s...

Day 3

God the Father makes it clear here in Hebrews 3:7 that the Holy Spirit spoke these words in Psalm 95 and that because it is God the Spirit speaking these words, we better pay close attention. Of course, we need to pay close attention to ALL of God’s Word, every day of our lives, but for today we are paying close attention to His Word written ...

Day 4

Today we are warned by God, through the writer of Hebrews, to be incredibly careful that no one has an unbelieving, wicked heart. God, through His Holy Spirit, led the apostle John to deal with this matter as well in 1 John 5:9-10, “If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testi- mony of God is this, that H...

Day 5

Today, in Hebrews 3:14, God assures the first believers who read this letter, who were facing per- secution, that everyone who claims to know Christ must “hold firm our newborn confidence [which originally led us to Him] until the end,” (AMP Bible). In other words, a true believer in Christ will trust in Him and will obey Him. The evidence of...

Day 6

We continue on this journey, in Hebrews 3:15, of not just hearing God and His Word, but to make sure we do not harden our hearts to what God teaches us. The writer of Hebrews continues to use the Israelites as the example of those who heard God but hardened their hearts to what they heard. The Israelite adults, who were delivered from Egypt, ...

Day 7

As we finish Hebrews 3 today, we have the final questions of who did not believe God. God, through the writer of Hebrews, makes it clear that the Israelites were the ones who willingly did not believe God. We can also provoke God when we’re unwilling to listen to Him through His Holy Spirit who lives in us and unwilling to listen to His Word....
