Day 5

Scripture to Read: Hebrews 13:10-14

Today God the Father takes us back to the Tabernacle, in Hebrews 13:10-14, to remind us that true worship of Him does NOT happen at an altar made by men, but true worship happens by following our Lord Jesus Christ. The altar was in the Holy Place within the Tabernacle where the high priest brought the blood sacrifice of a lamb as an offering for sin. The high priest had no right to eat of the true altar in heaven because the Tabernacle was only a representation of the true heavenly Tabernacle. The sin offering was a constant reminder of the seriousness of sin and because of the seriousness of the offering, it would be burned outside the camp. The animal sacrifice was a foreshadowing (picture) of Christ’s sacrifice of Himself, who paid the full price for our sin. Christ suffered outside the camp because His sacrifice was not just for the nation of Israel, but Christ’s sacrifice was for all people groups, all nations, for all time. God led the writer of Hebrews to tell the original readers, who were all Jews, to go outside the camp to abandon the established ordinances of Judaism and to go to Christ. These original Jews were to leave their religious system and trust in Christ alone for their salvation from their sin. We are to do the same by not trusting in any religious system of good works but to trust in Christ alone. Nothing in this world lasts; therefore, we must focus on our home in heaven with our Lord.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you about the seriousness of sin, and what did Christ do for all mankind? 2. Who will you share these truths with this week?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Love is the central theme of all of God’s Word. Our Lord Jesus Christ made sure this was clear in Matthew 22:34-40. Jesus said that the greatest commandment is to “…Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Then Jesus said the second greatest commandment is just like the first, and then He said this, ...

Day 2

God shares in Hebrews 13:4 how sacred marriage is to be held among us. Our society today, especially here in the USA, treats marriage almost like dating is treated in middle and high school. People date for convenience, and once the dating relationship is no longer fun and exciting, the so-called “couple” will breakup and try to find someone ...

Day 3

A great question we all need to ask ourselves each day is this, “What or who do I passionately love?” We know God has commanded us to love Him, to love each other, and to love the lost. Today God tells us what we should NOT love. God does not want us to get hooked on loving money. We know we need finances to buy food, clothes, shelter and oth...

Day 4

In Hebrews 13:7, God wants us to remember those who have invested their lives and God’s Word into us. God also wants us to remember those who are currently investing their lives and God’s Word into us now. Those who have poured into our lives are to be thanked, prayed for, and encouraged by us. Without these mentors/disciplers, none of us wou...

Day 6

God definitely deserves ALL our praise and worship. God reminds us, in Hebrews 13:15, that we must continually, through Christ, praise, and thank our God. We have so much to thank God for and our lips need to speak thanksgiving to Him throughout the day. We must NEVER forget to share with those in need. When we share with the needy, it’s anot...

Day 7

God, through the writer of Hebrews, ends the letter of Hebrews with some great words of encouragement. We’re reminded in Hebrews 13:20 that our God is the God of peace and that He (God the Father) is the One who raised our Lord Jesus Christ (God the Son) from the dead. Because Christ was raised from the dead, God the Father established an ete...
