Day 1

Scripture to Read: Hebrews 13:1-3

Love is the central theme of all of God’s Word. Our Lord Jesus Christ made sure this was clear in Matthew 22:34-40. Jesus said that the greatest commandment is to “…Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Then Jesus said the second greatest commandment is just like the first, and then He said this, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” So, to love each other is something that should continue throughout our lives. God brings this command up again in Hebrews 13:1, reminding us that we need to keep on loving each other. As we love others, part of the action step is not to forget to show hospitality to strangers as well, especially among other believers. Even though we may not know people well, to show that we are followers of Christ we must choose to be friendly and gracious to others, even strangers. Showing hospitality to strangers, in today’s culture, is more difficult but not impossible. We must use discernment but still seek to help others in need. God even says that we may have hosted an angel and not known it. Hosting an angel may seem like something God would not do anymore, but His Word says it and God has not changed. Finally, God tells us not to forget those in prison, those persecuted for their walk with Christ. Many in the world are still persecuted today for their faith. We must not neglect to pray for them and minister to their need.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about love, hospitality and those in prison? 2. What are some practical ways you can be obedient to our lord in all of these areas?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 2

God shares in Hebrews 13:4 how sacred marriage is to be held among us. Our society today, especially here in the USA, treats marriage almost like dating is treated in middle and high school. People date for convenience, and once the dating relationship is no longer fun and exciting, the so-called “couple” will breakup and try to find someone ...

Day 3

A great question we all need to ask ourselves each day is this, “What or who do I passionately love?” We know God has commanded us to love Him, to love each other, and to love the lost. Today God tells us what we should NOT love. God does not want us to get hooked on loving money. We know we need finances to buy food, clothes, shelter and oth...

Day 4

In Hebrews 13:7, God wants us to remember those who have invested their lives and God’s Word into us. God also wants us to remember those who are currently investing their lives and God’s Word into us now. Those who have poured into our lives are to be thanked, prayed for, and encouraged by us. Without these mentors/disciplers, none of us wou...

Day 5

Today God the Father takes us back to the Tabernacle, in Hebrews 13:10-14, to remind us that true worship of Him does NOT happen at an altar made by men, but true worship happens by following our Lord Jesus Christ. The altar was in the Holy Place within the Tabernacle where the high priest brought the blood sacrifice of a lamb as an offering ...

Day 6

God definitely deserves ALL our praise and worship. God reminds us, in Hebrews 13:15, that we must continually, through Christ, praise, and thank our God. We have so much to thank God for and our lips need to speak thanksgiving to Him throughout the day. We must NEVER forget to share with those in need. When we share with the needy, it’s anot...

Day 7

God, through the writer of Hebrews, ends the letter of Hebrews with some great words of encouragement. We’re reminded in Hebrews 13:20 that our God is the God of peace and that He (God the Father) is the One who raised our Lord Jesus Christ (God the Son) from the dead. Because Christ was raised from the dead, God the Father established an ete...
