Day 5

Scripture to Read: Genesis 41:14-24

As we saw yesterday, Pharaoh had his dreams and wanted to know what his dreams meant. So, Pharaoh asked to see Joseph immediately. When Joseph came into Pharaoh’s presence, Pharaoh told Joseph, “I have had a dream, but no one can interpret it; and I have heard it said about you, that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.” So, Pharaoh let Joseph know that no one could interpret his dreams, and he had heard that Joseph could interpret dreams. At this point, Joseph could have taken all the credit, and no one would have known any differently. But Joseph knew that God and God alone gave him the interpretation of dreams, and Joseph would have no part of robbing God of His glory. So, Joseph’s response gives us another beautiful picture of Joseph’s deep, intimate relationship with God. Joseph told Pharaoh where the interpretation of all dreams came from and that it was not from him but from God. Joseph said in Genesis 41:16, “It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer.” As we serve our King, Joseph’s example is an awesome example for us to give Him glory for the work He does through us each day. God is reminding us today of His Truth, shared through our Lord Jesus Christ in John 15:5, I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. We can do NOTHING apart from Him.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today through Joseph’s example on how we are to glorify Him as He works through us? 2. How has God used you in someone else’s life to minister to them, and how did you tell them it was God’s handiwork through you?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

So, last week we ended with Joseph being thrown into prison. Remember, he was wrongly accused by Potiphar’s wife of trying to take advantage of her sexually. The awesome news is that God continued to use Joseph for His glory and praise, as we saw in Genesis 39:20-23, and that the Chief Jailer had given Joseph charge of many things while he wa...

Day 2

God wants us to be able to lead others to Him and His Truth just as God used Joseph to share truth with the chief cupbearer and the chief baker. As we know, God has given us His Holy Spirit and God has given us His Holy Word. God and His Word guide, direct, nourish, and protect us each day through His Holy Spirit in us. We must choose to pass...

Day 3

Yesterday, we saw how God used Joseph to interpret the dreams that both the chief cupbearer and the chief baker had dreamed. Once Joseph finished interpreting the dreams, he asked the chief cupbearer for a favor. God’s Word records Joseph saying, in Genesis 40:14-15, “Only keep me in mind when it goes well with you, and please do me a kindnes...

Day 4

Joseph was still in prison, but God continued to move on Joseph’s behalf. Remember, Joseph had been sold into slavery at 17 years of age. At this point, we’re still not sure how many years Joseph has been in prison. God reveals to us today, though, that from the time the chief cupbearer was restored to his position in Pharaoh’s service, two m...

Day 6

God continually worked in and through Joseph because Joseph chose to follow God, even when his circumstances were far from perfect. As Joseph had been brought before Pharaoh, he was ready to be used by God again to share the interpretation God would give to him. So, Pharaoh shared his dreams with Joseph, hoping to get an answer to what his dr...

Day 7

As we finish up this week, we must remember that Joseph had told Pharaoh in Genesis 41:33 “Now let Pharaoh look for a man discerning and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.” After hearing everything, Pharaoh’s response showed his trust in Joseph, and Pharaoh acknowledged what God had given to Joseph in Genesis 41:39-40, So Pharaoh said ...
