Day 2

Scripture to Read: Colossians 1:16

When we consider God’s creation, it is magnificent and truly displays God’s power, glory, and majesty. We read in Psalm 19:1, “The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.” Then, we also read in Isaiah 6:3, “And one called out to another and said, ‘Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory.’” Then, God also revealed His powers and divine nature through His creation, as we read in Romans 1:20, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.” That is why God had Paul record this in Colossians 1:16: “For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.” Through Christ all things were created. God made sure to have Paul say that Christ not only created all things visible but also everything we can’t see. This is another confirmation that Jesus is God and that He is our glorious Creator. We also must see that all things were created “for Him.” All of Christ’s creation is to reflect His glory and honor Him. We are here, not for our purpose, plans, and pleasure but for His purpose, plans, and pleasure. Daily, we must make sure we’re bringing Him glory, honor, and praise.

Challenge & Application

Since it was by Christ that all things were created, how do you see God’s creation bringing Him honor? You were created for Him, so, how are you fulfilling His purpose for you?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

God loves us so much that He came in the Person of Jesus, revealing Himself in bodily form, and He laid down His life for the entire human race. God led Paul to describe our Lord Jesus Christ to the believers in Colossae in Colossians 1:15–20. We read in Colossians 1:15, “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.” G...

Day 3

God is eternal; therefore, He has no beginning and there will never be an end to Him. God had Paul write it this way in Colossians 1:17: “He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” It’s hard for us to imagine God having always been, because we live by time. We measure our days, weeks, months, and years by time. We wear a w...

Day 4

God the Father, Son, and Spirit are Three but also One. We read in Colossians 1:19, “For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him.” God the Father was pleased for all of His fullness, all of His perfection, all of His powers, and all of His attributes to permanently live in Christ the Son. When Jesus came to eart...

Day 5

Sometimes it’s important to remember what Christ has saved us from so that we fully appreciate the incredible gift of His love, grace, mercy, forgiveness, and restoration that He has and continually gives to us. We read in Colossians 1:21, “And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds.” The description i...

Day 6

We know what we used to be, but now that we’ve surrendered to Christ, we’re different. God had Paul write this in Colossians 1:22: “yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach.” God reminds us that Christ Himself reconciled us (reunited us, brought ...

Day 7

Many people hear the Gospel of Christ and are initially excited about being saved from their sin. But the sad news is that many never truly surrender to Christ because they are unwilling to die to themselves and live fully for Christ. God had Paul give a warning as we read in Colossians 1:23, “if indeed you continue in the faith firmly establ...
