Day 1

Scripture to Read: Colossians 1:15

God loves us so much that He came in the Person of Jesus, revealing Himself in bodily form, and He laid down His life for the entire human race. God led Paul to describe our Lord Jesus Christ to the believers in Colossae in Colossians 1:15–20. We read in Colossians 1:15, “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.” God had Paul give the believers in Colossae, and us, details about Jesus that confirm Jesus is God. This description of Jesus shows us that He is the precise image of our unseen God. Christ is the visible portrayal of our invisible God. Christ is also described as the firstborn of all creation, which means that Jesus is the originator, the creator, and the architect of all creation. That is why God had the Apostle John record this about Christ in John 1:3, “All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.” And, God had the writer of Hebrews record this about Christ in Hebrews 1:1–2, “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, 2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.” Through Christ our Lord, God the Father and God the Spirit created everything. That means that Christ is supreme over everything since He is God. Christ has always existed because He is eternal, and eternal life is only possible through Him.

Challenge & Application

Day 2

When we consider God’s creation, it is magnificent and truly displays God’s power, glory, and majesty. We read in Psalm 19:1, “The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.” Then, we also read in Isaiah 6:3, “And one called out to another and said, ‘Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts, t...

Day 3

God is eternal; therefore, He has no beginning and there will never be an end to Him. God had Paul write it this way in Colossians 1:17: “He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” It’s hard for us to imagine God having always been, because we live by time. We measure our days, weeks, months, and years by time. We wear a w...

Day 4

God the Father, Son, and Spirit are Three but also One. We read in Colossians 1:19, “For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him.” God the Father was pleased for all of His fullness, all of His perfection, all of His powers, and all of His attributes to permanently live in Christ the Son. When Jesus came to eart...

Day 6

We know what we used to be, but now that we’ve surrendered to Christ, we’re different. God had Paul write this in Colossians 1:22: “yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach.” God reminds us that Christ Himself reconciled us (reunited us, brought ...

Day 7

Many people hear the Gospel of Christ and are initially excited about being saved from their sin. But the sad news is that many never truly surrender to Christ because they are unwilling to die to themselves and live fully for Christ. God had Paul give a warning as we read in Colossians 1:23, “if indeed you continue in the faith firmly establ...
