Day 6

Scripture to Read: 2 Thessalonians 1:11

There is no doubt that God is constantly working in and through every believer on the face of the earth. We can know God is working in all believers because He confirms it in His Word in Ephesians 2:10, “ For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” So, every believer is God the Father’s masterpiece, and because Christ lives in us, through His Spirit (John 16:7; Romans 8:9; Ephesians 4:30; 1 John 3:24; 1 John 4:13), we know it is God working in us and through us. God also confirms His work in us in Philippians 2:13, “for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” So, God does not want there to be any question in our minds of His handiwork in and through us. As God led Paul to write in 2 Thessalonians 2:11, we see that Paul, Silas and the other believers with Paul prayed that God would count the believers in Thessalonica worthy of their calling. This calling from God, upon every Christian’s life, is that we live so Christ is glorified daily through our actions and words; in other words, that we listen to God, obey His Word, and that our lives shine brightly for Him. Also, the prayer included that through God’s power, for that is the only way anything is accomplished for His glory, that He would fulfill every desire for goodness as we walk in faith.

Challenge & Application

1. What did you learn today about God working in and through you, and about your life glorifying Him? 2. How will you glorify your Lord today through your words and actions?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

God is sovereign, which means He is completely in charge of all things. Sometimes it is hard for us to understand that God is in charge because of all the evil and suffering in this world. The problem is not with God, but the problem is when we start thinking that this world is our home and that this world ought to be better than what it is. ...

Day 2

Our Lord God Almighty is going to have the final word in all things one day. For all of us, as Christians, there are times when we would like God to go ahead and have that final word right now. Now, to look for our Lord’s return ought to be something we long for, so that is not a bad thing. God tells us in Titus 2:13 that we need to be “looki...

Day 3

God’s judgment is not a subject that is talked about much today. We speak a lot about God’s grace, mercy, love, forgiveness, compassion, kindness, etc…but not about His judgment. God the Father does give us, through our Lord Jesus Christ, His incredible grace, mercy, love, forgiveness, compassion, kindness, etc…but His judgment is going to be...

Day 4

As we saw in yesterday’s devotion, God is going to pour out His judgment on everyone who chooses not to surrender to Him nor obey Him. We know that every lost soul is separated from God for all eternity, which is horrible enough. But God continues in 2 Thessalonians 1:9 to explain to us that every lost soul will suffer from eternal destructio...

Day 5

When our Lord Jesus Christ returns for His bride (the church, every believer still here on earth when He returns), that day will be a glorious day indeed. Our Lord Jesus Christ will be fully glorified through every believer past, present, and those who surrender to Him before He returns. For Christ to be glorified through His saints means tha...

Day 7

Well, today we finish up 2 Thessalonians, and we find that our lives are to bring glory to our Lord Jesus Christ. We discussed this some in yesterday’s devotion, but what is interesting is that we are to be glorified in Christ too. This all happens because of the grace that God the Father has given us through our Lord Jesus Christ. To glorify...
