Day 3

Scripture to Read: 2 Thessalonians 1:8

God’s judgment is not a subject that is talked about much today. We speak a lot about God’s grace, mercy, love, forgiveness, compassion, kindness, etc…but not about His judgment. God the Father does give us, through our Lord Jesus Christ, His incredible grace, mercy, love, forgiveness, compassion, kindness, etc…but His judgment is going to be given to all of those who do not know Him. What we have to remember is that God’s full judgment was poured out on our Lord Jesus Christ, on the cross, when Christ took our judgment for sin on Himself. So why would God still have a judgment to pour out on those who do not know Him? Because every person who refuses God’s gift of forgiveness from their sin, through our Lord Jesus Christ, is choosing to receive God’s judgment on their sin and to pay the penalty themselves (see John 3:18; 1 Thessalonians 4:8; 1 John 5:10-11). The problem with every person who chooses to receive God’s judgment on their sin is that they are not perfect (see Romans 3:23; James 2:10). Therefore, the judgment they are choosing for themselves is to be completely separated from God for all eternity, for God cannot fellowship with sin. God’s judgment will be poured out on all who have chosen not to know Him or to obey Him. We, as Christians, are called to share Him so that those who do not know Him yet at least have the opportunity to respond to the gift He offers to all.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about His coming judgment? 2. Who will you share Christ with this week who still does not know Christ as Lord and Savior?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

God is sovereign, which means He is completely in charge of all things. Sometimes it is hard for us to understand that God is in charge because of all the evil and suffering in this world. The problem is not with God, but the problem is when we start thinking that this world is our home and that this world ought to be better than what it is. ...

Day 2

Our Lord God Almighty is going to have the final word in all things one day. For all of us, as Christians, there are times when we would like God to go ahead and have that final word right now. Now, to look for our Lord’s return ought to be something we long for, so that is not a bad thing. God tells us in Titus 2:13 that we need to be “looki...

Day 4

As we saw in yesterday’s devotion, God is going to pour out His judgment on everyone who chooses not to surrender to Him nor obey Him. We know that every lost soul is separated from God for all eternity, which is horrible enough. But God continues in 2 Thessalonians 1:9 to explain to us that every lost soul will suffer from eternal destructio...

Day 5

When our Lord Jesus Christ returns for His bride (the church, every believer still here on earth when He returns), that day will be a glorious day indeed. Our Lord Jesus Christ will be fully glorified through every believer past, present, and those who surrender to Him before He returns. For Christ to be glorified through His saints means tha...

Day 6

There is no doubt that God is constantly working in and through every believer on the face of the earth. We can know God is working in all believers because He confirms it in His Word in Ephesians 2:10, “ For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” So, every...

Day 7

Well, today we finish up 2 Thessalonians, and we find that our lives are to bring glory to our Lord Jesus Christ. We discussed this some in yesterday’s devotion, but what is interesting is that we are to be glorified in Christ too. This all happens because of the grace that God the Father has given us through our Lord Jesus Christ. To glorify...
