Scripture to Read: Romans 3:31
We end this week with Romans 3:31. God has taught us much about Himself and that His salvation is for everyone, not just the Jews. God has Paul finishing up Romans 3 by asking a question and then answering that same question in Romans 3:31, “Do we then nullify the Law through faith? May it never be! On the contrary, we establish the Law.” The question God had Paul ask may seem silly, but it is very serious. Many new followers of Christ from the Jewish nation thought Christ had come to abolish the Law. Even Jesus said to the Jews in Matthew 5:17, “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.” Christ fulfilled God’s Law perfectly; that is why He was the perfect blood sacrifice for the cleansing of everyone’s sins who placed their faith in Him for salvation from the power and penalty of sin. The blood of Christ washes us clean from all sins, whereas, prior to Christ, all the animal blood sacrifices only covered the people's sins. But when Christ’s blood was shed for all sins, for all time, His blood cleansed all those who came before Him from all their sins. So, when God had Paul ask if faith nullified the Law, it made sense to the Jews that Paul would say, “no.” The Law was upheld through faith because God used it to convict everyone of sin, pointing everyone to their need for salvation, which was and is only possible through Christ.
Challenge & Application

How are you sharing the good news of Christ with those who still need a relationship with Him?
