Scripture to Read: Psalms 119
We have examined four different soils this week, and we have seen how we must continually pursue Christ and His Word in order to be fruitful. We know God’s Word is more wonderful and powerful than anything this world can offer us. God’s Word revives us (Psalms 119:50). God’s Word is better than any earthly treasure (Psalms 119:72). God’s Word makes us wiser than our enemies, teachers, and even the ages (Psalms 119:98-100). God’s Word is sweeter than honey (Psalms 119:103). God’s Word lights our path each day so we walk in God’s ways (Psalms 119:105). God’s Word gives us understanding (Psalms 119:130). God’s Word gives us peace and keeps us from stumbling (Psalms 119:165). God’s Word is living and always active, and a sword to cut through the lies and deceptions of our feelings and of this world (Ephesians 6:17; Hebrews 4:12). These are just a few reasons we must be in God’s Word every day. Without God’s Word, we make ourselves open targets and unprotected to the spiritual battles we face each day. The devil, and all of the spiritual forces of darkness, would love to lead us astray with the lies and deceptions they lay before us each day. We must read, study, memorize and live God’s Word every day so that we are the “good soil” that bears much fruit for our God and King. The fruit we bear brings glory to our Lord and transforms us to be more like Him.
