Scripture to Read: Luke 8:15
God has designed us for relationship with Him, with others, and for us to bear fruit for Him daily. God reminds us that He has created us to bear fruit for Him by engaging in His work, His good deeds (Ephesians 2:10, Titus 3:8, Titus 3:14). Today we read in Luke 8:15 that when God’s Word (the seed) fell on good soil (a good heart that holds on tight to God’s Word) that God’s Word bears fruit in that good soil. We need to pay close attention to the fact that the person walking with God who bears fruit, bears that fruit through perseverance. In other words, it’s not going to come easy to walk in God’s Truth and to bear fruit for Him, but it’s going to take us being determined and disciplined so nothing hinders us from doing what God has called us to do. Jesus tells us when it comes to God’s Truth, these believers “hold it fast.” God led Paul to say it this way in 1 Corinthians 15:1-2 “Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.” To “hold fast” means we do not change our mind but we cling to God’s Truth, walk in obedience to God’s Truth, and not waiver from God’s Truth no matter what anyone says, nor how we feel.
