Scripture to Read: Hebrews 11:30-40
Today we see that our faith in God can result
in huge miracles taking place as shared in Hebrews
11:33-35 “…conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness,
obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions,
34 quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the
sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty
in war, put foreign armies to flight. 35 Women received
back their dead by resurrection….” (NASB) But we also see
that walking by faith can result in tests, trials, and tribulation
as we see in Hebrews 11:35-37 “others were tortured,
not accepting their release, so that they might obtain a
better resurrection; 36 and others experienced mockings
and scourgings, yes, also chains and imprisonment. 37 They
were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted,
they were put to death with the sword; they went about in
sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated
38 (men of whom the world was not worthy), wandering
in deserts and mountains and caves and holes in the
ground.” (NASB) God wants us to understand that all of
these people who went before us, who placed their faith in
Him, did not receive the promise of Christ. God had plans
for us, for His Word says in Hebrews 11:40 “because God
had us in mind and had something better for us, so that
they [these men and women of authentic faith] would not
be made perfect [that is, completed in Him] apart from us.”
(Amplified) God wants everyone to be included in His gift of
salvation through Christ.
Challenge & Application
1. What did you learn about faith today that you did not
know before?
2. Who can you share your faith with this week who needs
to be included in God’s gift of salvation through Christ?
