Day 7

Scripture to Read: Hebrews 11:30-40

Today we see that our faith in God can result in huge miracles taking place as shared in Hebrews 11:33-35 “…conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, 34 quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. 35 Women received back their dead by resurrection….” (NASB) But we also see that walking by faith can result in tests, trials, and tribulation as we see in Hebrews 11:35-37 “others were tortured, not accepting their release, so that they might obtain a better resurrection; 36 and others experienced mockings and scourgings, yes, also chains and imprisonment. 37 They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were put to death with the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated 38 (men of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves and holes in the ground.” (NASB) God wants us to understand that all of these people who went before us, who placed their faith in Him, did not receive the promise of Christ. God had plans for us, for His Word says in Hebrews 11:40 “because God had us in mind and had something better for us, so that they [these men and women of authentic faith] would not be made perfect [that is, completed in Him] apart from us.” (Amplified) God wants everyone to be included in His gift of salvation through Christ.

Day 1

There is no doubt that the theme of Hebrews 11 is “faith.” As we focus on “faith” over these next seven devotions, may our Lord open our eyes to our own faith in Him and His Word. Hebrews 11:1 clearly defines “faith” for us. Faith is that confirmation within our hearts of the promises of God that we look forward to enjoying for all eternity. ...

Day 2

Over the next few days, we’re going to see many examples of faith in Hebrews 11. My prayer is that God uses these examples to encourage us and motivate us to put our faith into action every day. God shows us in Hebrews 11:3 that everything in creation all came into being by His spoken Word. This is a great reminder to all of us of the awesome...

Day 3

God begins to lay before us, and of course, He put this before the Jewish Christians that this letter was first written to, the saints of old who walked by faith in the Old Testament. God reminds us of Noah; because of Noah’s reverence for God and his faith in God, Noah prepared the ark for the salvation of himself and his family. Noah put hi...

Day 4

As we begin today, in Hebrews 11:17-19, we read how God tested Abraham. God asked Abraham, back in Genesis 22:1-10, to offer up Isaac, his son, as a sacrifice. Now, God had already promised Abraham that his descendants would be so many that they would number far beyond the stars in the sky or the sands on the seashore. God had also promised A...

Day 5

It’s truly amazing to consider how God used ordinary people for bigger than life ministries to carry out His perfect will. Too often, we see ourselves as useless and insignificant for the work in God’s Kingdom. But, God has chosen each one of us for a particular area of ministry in which He desires us to fulfill His work for His glory and pra...

Day 6

Acts of faith continue to be shared with us in Hebrews 11. Things that we did not know from the Old Testament, God is clarifying for us in Hebrews 11. We read how Moses’ parents put their faith in God into action by hiding Moses and not fearing the king’s command to kill all of the Jewish male children once they were born (Exodus 1:15 to Exod...
