Scripture to Read: Hebrews 11:23-29
Acts of faith continue to be shared with
us in Hebrews 11. Things that we did not know from the
Old Testament, God is clarifying for us in Hebrews 11. We
read how Moses’ parents put their faith in God into action
by hiding Moses and not fearing the king’s command to
kill all of the Jewish male children once they were born
(Exodus 1:15 to Exodus 2:4). We also find that Moses, because
of his faith in God, chose not to be called the son of
Pharaoh’s daughter but rather to endure the abuse that
the rest of the Israelites were going through. Even though
Christ would not come to earth for another 1500 years,
God tells us in Hebrews 11:26 that Moses went through
the suffering with the Israelites because Moses considered
“the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures
of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward.” Moses
trusted God and obeyed what God told him and the Israelites
to do during the Passover. Then Moses trusted God
completely and left Egypt, leading the Israelites to pass
through the Red Sea being set free from the bondage of
slavery. God can accomplish miraculous works through
us each day as well when we trust Him with every area of
our lives. We must not limit God by trusting only in what
we see for God is at work in us, and He desires to carry
out His work and will through us for His good pleasure
(Philippians 2:13).
Challenge & Application
1. What did you learn about your faith today? What do
you need to do to put your faith into action?
2. Who will you share your faith with this week who
needs to trust God with their lives well?
