Day 7

Scripture to Read: Exodus 27:9–21

In Exodus 27:9–19, God gives Moses the details for the walls of the outer courtyard. You can get a good idea of what it was like here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8d_x5br8Zqc. The significance of the courtyard was that all of Israel must enter there to bring their sacrifices. As we know, only the priests were allowed in the Tabernacle and only the high priest was allowed in the Holy of Holies and that only happened once a year. So, the courtyard was where Israel could come to be near God’s presence. When we consider what the courtyard was used for, it gives us a better understanding of many of the Psalms. Psalm 84:2, “My soul longed and even yearned for the courts of the Lord; My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God.” Psalm 84:10, “For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand outside. I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Psalm 96:8, “Ascribe to the Lord the glory of His name; Bring an offering and come into His courts.” Psalm 100:4, “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name.” What a beautiful reminder that we get to praise our Lord and King every day. We have the privilege of being in His presence at ALL times because He dwells in us through His Holy Spirit. May we never take our privilege for granted.

Day 6

We read about the Altar of Burnt Offering in Exodus 27:1–8. The Hebrew word for altar is best defined a “killing place.” There must be death (the shedding of blood) for the atonement of sin. Without the blood, there is no redemption. God’s Word reminds us of this Truth in Hebrews 9:22, “And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things...
