Day 4

Scripture to Read: Exodus 26:1–14

In Exodus 26:1–14, God gave Moses the details about the curtains that would cover the Tabernacle. It’s interesting that God begins with the curtains and that each layer was to be made specifically according to God’s plan. The first ten curtains were to have the images of cherubim woven on them. This is significant because the cherubim are in God’s throne room in heaven where God is enthroned above them (2 Samuel 6:2, 2 Kings 19:15, 1 Chronicles 13:6, Psalm 80:1, Psalm 99:1, Isaiah 37:16, Ezekiel 10:20, Ezekiel 11:22). God wanted the priests, as they entered the Holy place, to see the images of the cherubim, reminding them that they were near His presence. Then, God told Moses, in Exodus 26:7, “Then you shall make curtains of goats ’hair for a tent over the tabernacle; you shall make eleven curtains in all.” These curtains were to be a tent over the first layer of curtains, protecting them. Then, for the last two coverings, God told Moses in Exodus 26:14, “You shall make a covering for the tent of rams ’skins dyed red and a covering of porpoise skins above.” Again, to get a clearer picture of what God commanded and see a depiction of what God commanded, click on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgpV-_27-qo. God made sure that everything was protected within the Tabernacle, just like He lives within us and commands us to put on His armor (Ephesians 6:10–18) to keep our souls protected.

Day 6

We read about the Altar of Burnt Offering in Exodus 27:1–8. The Hebrew word for altar is best defined a “killing place.” There must be death (the shedding of blood) for the atonement of sin. Without the blood, there is no redemption. God’s Word reminds us of this Truth in Hebrews 9:22, “And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things...
