Day 7

Scripture to Read: Exodus 13:1–16

In Exodus 13, God had Moses tell the Israelites about the consecration of the firstborn. To be consecrated means to be set apart or dedicated to God. God told Moses, in Exodus 13:2, “Sanctify to Me every firstborn, the first offspring of every womb among the sons of Israel, both of man and beast; it belongs to Me.” God has consecrated every Christian through the blood of Christ—we’ve been set apart as His children. Through Christ, we belong to God, sanctified, which means made holy. In Exodus 13, the firstborn of the animals would be sacrificed to God as an offering, remembering that God delivered them by His mighty strong hand, killing every firstborn of Egypt. But every firstborn of the sons of Israel God redeemed (saved). God had Moses tell the Israelites in Exodus 13:8–9, “And you shall tell your son on that day, saying, ‘It is because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.’ 9 And it shall serve as a sign to you on your hand, and as a reminder on your forehead, that the law of the Lord may be in your mouth; for with a powerful hand the Lord brought you out of Egypt.” God has given us His Holy Word as His reminder of all He’s done for us. We don’t wear reminders on our foreheads or hands but we must memorize God’s Truth so “that the law of the Lord may be in our mouth” and continually filling our hearts. We have been redeemed by Christ’s blood for all eternity.

Challenge & Application

· We have been set apart for God through Christ’s death—so, how are you living so others see you’ve been made holy by God? · How are you ensuring God’s Word is filling your heart so that His Word is in your mouth?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

The Egyptians wanted all of the Israelites gone quickly, fearing that God would kill every Egyptian. Remember too how God had told Moses, back in Exodus 3:21–22, that the n...

Day 6

As we continue in Exodus 12, we examine the ordinance of the Passover. God spoke to Moses, then Moses spoke to the nation of Israel to teach them why keeping the Passover was so important.
