Day 2

Scripture to Read: Exodus 12:1–13

In Exodus 12:1–13, God spoke to Moses and Aaron and gave them specific instructions concerning the Passover lamb. God is detailed, and we must remember this fact. God is not vague when He lays out what He desires for our lives. He told Moses and Aaron several specifics about the Passover. God told them the month they were in was now the first month of their year; on the tenth day of that month, they were to choose an unblemished lamb or goat, a one-year-old male. They must take care of that animal until the fourteenth day. Then, every Israelite family must slaughter their lamb or goat at twilight. They must take some of the blood and put it on the sides and top of the doorframes of every house where they ate the animal. They must roast the meat over a fire, not boil it, and eat bitter herbs and unleavened bread (bread made without yeast). They must not leave any of it until the next morning but burn whatever was not eaten before morning. God told them to be fully dressed, have sandals on, and have their staff in hand. On that night, God would pass through the land of Egypt and strike down every firstborn son and firstborn male animal in the land of Egypt. God would execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt. The blood on the doorposts was the sign to God that they had obeyed Him and He would pass over them. The plague of death would not touch them. Obedience to God always results in blessings.

This week, we will see the final plague God brings on Egypt and walk through how God redeems Israel from Egypt. As God ...

The Egyptians wanted all of the Israelites gone quickly, fearing that God would kill every Egyptian. Remember too how God had told Moses, back in Exodus 3:21–22, that the n...

Day 6

As we continue in Exodus 12, we examine the ordinance of the Passover. God spoke to Moses, then Moses spoke to the nation of Israel to teach them why keeping the Passover was so important. God wanted Israel to remember that Passover is when He delivered them from Egypt. Similarly, we observe the Lord's Supper to remember that our Lord Jesus C...

Day 7

In Exodus 13, God had Moses tell the Israelites about the consecration of the firstborn. To be consecrated means to be set apart or dedicated to God. God told Moses, in Exodus 13:2, “Sanctify to Me every firstborn, the first offspring of every womb among the sons of Israel, both of man and beast; it belongs to Me.” God has consecrated every C...
