Day 5

Scripture to Read: Exodus 12:33–41

We have arrived at the night of deliverance in Exodus 12:33–41. God had moved on behalf of the nation of Israel, and they were finally set free after 430 years of bondage. The Egyptians wanted all of the Israelites gone quickly, fearing that God would kill every Egyptian. Remember too how God had told Moses, back in Exodus 3:21–22, that the nation of Israel would not leave empty-handed. Israel obeyed God’s Word through Moses, and they asked the Egyptians for silver, gold, and clothing. Our Lord gave Israel favor in the sight of the Egyptians, and Israel carried off all the Egyptians gave them. God also tells us, in Exodus 12:37, that around six hundred thousand Israelite men, not counting women and children, left Egypt that night. That would have been well over two million Israelites, plus their flocks and herds went with them. God fulfilled all that He told Moses in Exodus 3. God also reminds us, in Exodus 12:40, that Israel had been in Egypt for four hundred and thirty years, and “to the very day, all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt.” (Exodus 12:41) God’s Word to Abram in Genesis 15:13–14 had come to pass. So many promises are given to us, God’s children, in His Word. We must read, study, and memorize His Truth so that in times of tests and trials we do not lose sight of God’s promises and provision. We must know that God’s Word will be fulfilled, so walk in Him daily.

This week, we will see the final plague God brings on Egypt and walk through how God redeems Israel from Egypt. As God ...

Day 6

As we continue in Exodus 12, we examine the ordinance of the Passover. God spoke to Moses, then Moses spoke to the nation of Israel to teach them why keeping the Passover was so important. God wanted Israel to remember that Passover is when He delivered them from Egypt. Similarly, we observe the Lord's Supper to remember that our Lord Jesus C...

Day 7

In Exodus 13, God had Moses tell the Israelites about the consecration of the firstborn. To be consecrated means to be set apart or dedicated to God. God told Moses, in Exodus 13:2, “Sanctify to Me every firstborn, the first offspring of every womb among the sons of Israel, both of man and beast; it belongs to Me.” God has consecrated every C...
