Day 1

Scripture to Read: Exodus 11:1–9

Last week, we saw God’s incredible handiwork. Though the spiritual forces of wickedness copied the first three plagues from God, once God sent the fourth plague, the spiritual forces of darkness were powerless (Exodus 8:18). This week, we will see the final plague God brings on Egypt and walk through how God redeems Israel from Egypt. As God spoke to Moses in Exodus 11:1–2, God told Moses that the final plague was about to come and after that, Pharaoh would release the Israelites from their bondage. God also reminds us, in Exodus 11:3, what He had promised Moses at the burning bush in Exodus 3:21, “I will grant this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and it shall be that when you go, you will not go empty-handed.” God always accomplishes His will. God desires us to know Him and His will so well that we walk in a manner worthy of Him, pleasing Him in all our ways, bearing fruit for Him in every good work, and increase in our knowledge of Him (Colossians 1:10). As a reminder, as Exodus 10:28–29 ended, Pharaoh said to Moses, “Get away from me! Beware, do not see my face again, for in the day you see my face, you shall die!” Moses replied, “You are right; I shall never see your face again!” Then, Exodus 11:4–8 records Moses’s final words to Pharaoh. Moses shares how God would move throughout Egypt and that every firstborn in the land would die. God’s judgment was severe, but His grace is greater still.

Challenge & Application

· God used plagues to humble Pharaoh, the Egyptians, and Israel. How has God used trials to humble you to walk with Him? · How are you pursuing your intimacy with God and His Word so that your life bears His fruit for His glory?
