Day 7

Scripture to Read: Daniel 2:46–49

God miraculously used Daniel, because even as a 17-year-old, Daniel chose to walk in obedience to His true King. We read in Daniel 2:46–49, Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and did homage to Daniel, and gave orders to present to him an offering and fragrant incense. 47 The king answered Daniel and said, “Surely your God is a God of gods and a Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, since you have been able to reveal this mystery.” 48 Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many great gifts, and he made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon and chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon. 49 And Daniel made request of the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego over the administration of the province of Babylon, while Daniel was at the king’s court. Imagine a king falling on his face before you to honor you, especially as a 17-year-old. But also notice that Nebuchadnezzar finally recognized Daniel’s God as the God of gods and the Lord of kings. That does not mean that Nebuchadnezzar surrendered to God but only that he knew Daniel’s God was the most powerful he had seen so far. Then, God used Nebuchadnezzar to promote Daniel as “ruler over the whole province of Babylon and chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon.” Daniel had been obedient to God and God blessed him (James 1:25). Daniel made another request of Nebuchadnezzar to promote his friends, and God blessed them as well. Obedience to our Lord brings blessings.

Challenge & Application

• What needs to happen in your life where you choose obedience to our Lord over anything else this world offers you? • How can you help other Christians turn away from what this world offers them and choose obedience?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Daniel is about how to live for God in a pagan environment. Daniel and his three friends serve as role models. Daniel 2:1, “Now in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; and his spirit was troubled and his sleep left him.” This was about two years after the events of Daniel 1. Daniel took a stand for God in...

Day 2

In Daniel 2:4, we read the response of the wise men. Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic: “O king, live forever! Tell the dream to your servants, and we will declare the interpretation.” They wanted Nebuchadnezzar to at least tell them the dream, then they would interpret it for him. But Nebuchadnezzar says in Daniel 2:5–6, “The c...

Day 3

Nebuchadnezzar was done with his so-called wise men, for we read in Daniel 2:12–13 that Nebuchadnezzar “became indignant and very furious and gave orders to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.” Daniel and his friends’ lives were in jeopardy, but God was at work. God had prepared Daniel in Daniel 1 for the events God knew Daniel would face in...

Day 4

God used Arioch, the king’s commander, to explain to Daniel what was happening. Daniel stood firm on God’s Truth in Daniel 1. If Daniel had compromised in Daniel 1, it’s most possible that Daniel 2 would have never happened. Our life choices can result in God’s favor as we walk in obedience to Him (James 1:25), but the opposite is also true. ...

Day 5

After Daniel prayed, praising and thanking God for revealing the dream to him, we read in Daniel 2:24 how Daniel quickly shared with Arioch what God had shown him. But don’t miss what God shows us in Daniel 2:25 and Daniel 2:28. In verse 25, Arioch credited Daniel for interpreting the dream, but in verse 28, Daniel gives God all the credit, g...

Day 6

In Daniel 2:31–35, God had Daniel describe the statue in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. Notice that the value of the metals deteriorates as we move from the top of the statue to the bottom of the statue. Also, notice that the weight of the metal declines as you move from top to bottom. Most theologians believe that God was revealing the decline of t...
