Day 6

Scripture to Read: Daniel 2:31–45

In Daniel 2:31–35, God had Daniel describe the statue in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. Notice that the value of the metals deteriorates as we move from the top of the statue to the bottom of the statue. Also, notice that the weight of the metal declines as you move from top to bottom. Most theologians believe that God was revealing the decline of the human race. When God created Adam and Eve, they were perfect in every way. God even says in Genesis 1:31, "God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good." God only had Himself as Father, Son, and Spirit to compare to His creation. So, when God said it was very good, He let us know His creation was perfect. But then, Adam and Eve sinned against God in the Garden of Eden, and ever since then, man has been turning His back on God and degenerating. Mankind is not improving; instead, mankind continues to move further away from God. In Romans 1 and Ephesians 4:17–19, God tells us that mankind’s mind has become darkened. Mankind is becoming more degenerate intellectually, physically, and morally—that is why Christ came, because without Him, we are doomed to nothing more than settling for the garbage this world offers us each day. But in Christ, we are renewed, revived, and refreshed, and God wants our minds to be focused on Him and His Word (Romans 12:2, 2 Corinthians 10:3–5, Ephesians 4:23, Philippians 4:8) so that our hearts are transformed daily by Him and His Word.

Challenge & Application

• How do we know mankind is not getting better, but worse? • As a human race, how do we overcome the problem of becoming more degenerate intellectually, physically, and morally?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Daniel is about how to live for God in a pagan environment. Daniel and his three friends serve as role models. Daniel 2:1, “Now in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; and his spirit was troubled and his sleep left him.” This was about two years after the events of Daniel 1. Daniel took a stand for God in...

Day 2

In Daniel 2:4, we read the response of the wise men. Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic: “O king, live forever! Tell the dream to your servants, and we will declare the interpretation.” They wanted Nebuchadnezzar to at least tell them the dream, then they would interpret it for him. But Nebuchadnezzar says in Daniel 2:5–6, “The c...

Day 3

Nebuchadnezzar was done with his so-called wise men, for we read in Daniel 2:12–13 that Nebuchadnezzar “became indignant and very furious and gave orders to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.” Daniel and his friends’ lives were in jeopardy, but God was at work. God had prepared Daniel in Daniel 1 for the events God knew Daniel would face in...

Day 4

God used Arioch, the king’s commander, to explain to Daniel what was happening. Daniel stood firm on God’s Truth in Daniel 1. If Daniel had compromised in Daniel 1, it’s most possible that Daniel 2 would have never happened. Our life choices can result in God’s favor as we walk in obedience to Him (James 1:25), but the opposite is also true. ...

Day 5

After Daniel prayed, praising and thanking God for revealing the dream to him, we read in Daniel 2:24 how Daniel quickly shared with Arioch what God had shown him. But don’t miss what God shows us in Daniel 2:25 and Daniel 2:28. In verse 25, Arioch credited Daniel for interpreting the dream, but in verse 28, Daniel gives God all the credit, g...

Day 7

God miraculously used Daniel, because even as a 17-year-old, Daniel chose to walk in obedience to His true King. We read in Daniel 2:46–49, Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and did homage to Daniel, and gave orders to present to him an offering and fragrant incense. 47 The king answered Daniel and said, “Surely your God is a God of g...
