Day 2

Scripture to Read: Daniel 2:4–11

In Daniel 2:4, we read the response of the wise men. Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic: “O king, live forever! Tell the dream to your servants, and we will declare the interpretation.” They wanted Nebuchadnezzar to at least tell them the dream, then they would interpret it for him. But Nebuchadnezzar says in Daniel 2:5–6, “The command from me is firm: if you do not make known to me the dream and its interpretation, you will be torn limb from limb and your houses will be made a rubbish heap. 6 But if you declare the dream and its interpretation, you will receive from me gifts and a reward and great honor; therefore declare to me the dream and its interpretation.” Nebuchadnezzar stood firm, and he was so brutal that he would have them ripped apart and their houses burned if they couldn’t interpret his dreams. The Babylonian spiritual leaders asked again in Daniel 2:7, “Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and we will declare the interpretation.” But in Daniel 2:8–9, Nebuchadnezzar didn’t budge on what he wanted from them. The spiritual leaders knew they were given an impossible task, and in Daniel 2:10–11, the Chaldeans said, “There is not a man on earth” who could solve what Nebuchadnezzar had demanded from them. This was beyond human intellect, ingenuity, and intelligence. God often allows us to be put in situations we could never accomplish ourselves. God uses impossible situations to teach us to trust in Him. God can always provide the answers needed.

Challenge & Application

• When you’ve been faced with what seems like an impossible task, how have you seen God work in and through you? • How has God used you to help someone else walk through what they thought was impossible to do?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Daniel is about how to live for God in a pagan environment. Daniel and his three friends serve as role models. Daniel 2:1, “Now in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; and his spirit was troubled and his sleep left him.” This was about two years after the events of Daniel 1. Daniel took a stand for God in...

Day 3

Nebuchadnezzar was done with his so-called wise men, for we read in Daniel 2:12–13 that Nebuchadnezzar “became indignant and very furious and gave orders to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.” Daniel and his friends’ lives were in jeopardy, but God was at work. God had prepared Daniel in Daniel 1 for the events God knew Daniel would face in...

Day 4

God used Arioch, the king’s commander, to explain to Daniel what was happening. Daniel stood firm on God’s Truth in Daniel 1. If Daniel had compromised in Daniel 1, it’s most possible that Daniel 2 would have never happened. Our life choices can result in God’s favor as we walk in obedience to Him (James 1:25), but the opposite is also true. ...

Day 5

After Daniel prayed, praising and thanking God for revealing the dream to him, we read in Daniel 2:24 how Daniel quickly shared with Arioch what God had shown him. But don’t miss what God shows us in Daniel 2:25 and Daniel 2:28. In verse 25, Arioch credited Daniel for interpreting the dream, but in verse 28, Daniel gives God all the credit, g...

Day 6

In Daniel 2:31–35, God had Daniel describe the statue in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. Notice that the value of the metals deteriorates as we move from the top of the statue to the bottom of the statue. Also, notice that the weight of the metal declines as you move from top to bottom. Most theologians believe that God was revealing the decline of t...

Day 7

God miraculously used Daniel, because even as a 17-year-old, Daniel chose to walk in obedience to His true King. We read in Daniel 2:46–49, Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and did homage to Daniel, and gave orders to present to him an offering and fragrant incense. 47 The king answered Daniel and said, “Surely your God is a God of g...
