Day 5

Scripture to Read: Daniel 2:24–30

After Daniel prayed, praising and thanking God for revealing the dream to him, we read in Daniel 2:24 how Daniel quickly shared with Arioch what God had shown him. But don’t miss what God shows us in Daniel 2:25 and Daniel 2:28. In verse 25, Arioch credited Daniel for interpreting the dream, but in verse 28, Daniel gives God all the credit, glory, and honor. As Christians, this is something we must guard against, for as our Lord uses us, people will want to give us credit, honor, and even glory for what we’ve done rather than give all the credit to God. Our fleshly nature wants the recognition, but God is our Creator and only He deserves the glory, honor, and praise. God loves us and desires to use us (Ephesians 2:10). God is not looking for people who think they have something to offer Him. God uses surrendered servants who desire to serve Him well. God will not share His glory with anyone, for He alone deserves all the glory. Also, Daniel knew that the Babylonians worshipped the heavens. The Babylonians sought to chart their lives through astrology (studying the stars). So, Daniel made sure to point out to Nebuchadnezzar that the God who made those stars the Babylonians worshipped was the God of heaven, and this same God was the One Who made the dream known to Daniel. Again, in Daniel 2:29–30, Daniel tells Nebuchadnezzar that God is the One Who reveals mysteries, and He was the One revealing to Nebuchadnezzar what would occur. Daniel stood firm in his faith.

Challenge & Application

• How can we guard against robbing God of the glory due to Him when people want to recognize us instead? • How do we stand firm in our faith the way Daniel did, no matter who we stand before in this life?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Daniel is about how to live for God in a pagan environment. Daniel and his three friends serve as role models. Daniel 2:1, “Now in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; and his spirit was troubled and his sleep left him.” This was about two years after the events of Daniel 1. Daniel took a stand for God in...

Day 2

In Daniel 2:4, we read the response of the wise men. Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic: “O king, live forever! Tell the dream to your servants, and we will declare the interpretation.” They wanted Nebuchadnezzar to at least tell them the dream, then they would interpret it for him. But Nebuchadnezzar says in Daniel 2:5–6, “The c...

Day 3

Nebuchadnezzar was done with his so-called wise men, for we read in Daniel 2:12–13 that Nebuchadnezzar “became indignant and very furious and gave orders to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.” Daniel and his friends’ lives were in jeopardy, but God was at work. God had prepared Daniel in Daniel 1 for the events God knew Daniel would face in...

Day 4

God used Arioch, the king’s commander, to explain to Daniel what was happening. Daniel stood firm on God’s Truth in Daniel 1. If Daniel had compromised in Daniel 1, it’s most possible that Daniel 2 would have never happened. Our life choices can result in God’s favor as we walk in obedience to Him (James 1:25), but the opposite is also true. ...

Day 6

In Daniel 2:31–35, God had Daniel describe the statue in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. Notice that the value of the metals deteriorates as we move from the top of the statue to the bottom of the statue. Also, notice that the weight of the metal declines as you move from top to bottom. Most theologians believe that God was revealing the decline of t...

Day 7

God miraculously used Daniel, because even as a 17-year-old, Daniel chose to walk in obedience to His true King. We read in Daniel 2:46–49, Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and did homage to Daniel, and gave orders to present to him an offering and fragrant incense. 47 The king answered Daniel and said, “Surely your God is a God of g...
