Day 7

Scripture to Read: 1 Timothy 2:7-8

We finish up 1 Timothy 2:1-8 today as we read 1 Timothy 2:7-8. We find that God led Paul to remind Timothy that Paul had been appointed/chosen by God to be a preacher and an apostle. As we have seen in earlier devotions, we know that an apostle is someone who actually saw our Lord Jesus Christ in His risen body from the grave. Therefore, we also know that there are no apostles today, but there are plenty of preachers and each one has been called, just like Paul and Timothy, to preach about faith and truth in Christ. Now, just because every believer is not called as a preacher does not mean that only preachers share the message of faith and truth in Christ. All believers are called to share the message of Christ and that faith must be placed in Him and that truth is found only in Him. It’s interesting that God led Paul to make a reference to telling the truth. But God led Paul to do this at other times as well, such as 2 Corinthians 11:31 and Galatians 1:20. God had Paul refer to his calling from God as a preacher and an apostle, clarifying that he was God’s servant. Then, God had Paul remind Timothy and, of course, us that all of us need to be men and women of prayer. We also read that we need to guard against anger, disputing, quarreling and attitudes that do not honor our Lord.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about His call on your life to share Him, to pray to Him, and to guard against ungodly attitudes? 2. How will you share Him this week? How will you practice the daily discipline of prayer? How will you guard against ungodly attitudes?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

This week, our focus is going to be on 1 Timothy 2:1-8. We are focusing on prayer as a church but also as individuals. God clearly tells us in 1 Timothy 2:1 that we are to pray for all people. As we pray, God tells us that we need to intercede on behalf of all people and that we are to give thanks for all people. One thing we ought to pray ea...

Day 2

God continues to challenge us in our prayer lives. As we read 1 Timothy 2:2, we are to specifically pray for all kings and all who are in authority. God does not tell us to pray for those in authority whom we like. God also does not tell us to pray for those in authority we agree with or are Christians. God tells us to pray for all who are in...

Day 3

As we continue our walk through 1 Timothy 2:1-8, we read in 1 Timothy 2:3 that a result of praying for all people and praying for those in authority is that it “is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.” God loves when we, as His children, obey Him and His Word. When we know that something is good and acceptable in the sight of G...

Day 4

We read some incredibly good news today. In 1 Timothy 2:4, God makes it perfectly clear that He desires everyone to be saved! Some people teach a false doctrine today, that God has chosen some to be destined for heaven and others hell. The mindset that God would choose to create people so that He could send them to hell is absolutely horrible...

Day 5

God has always been One, and He has always existed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. No one has ever seen God and we know this because God tells us this in John 1:18, John 6:46, 1 John 4:12, and 1 John 4:20. But God lovingly revealed Himself through our Lord Jesus Christ, and we know this because Christ said, in John 14:6-7, Jesus *said to him...

Day 6

As we saw in the devotion on Day #4, God, in His incredible lovingkindness, mercy, and grace, desires the entire human race to be saved. God also desires every born-again believer to know Him as intimately as possible. We continue in this good news today as we read 1 Timothy 1:6. God reminds us that Christ gave Himself as a ransom (a substitu...
