Day 3

Scripture to Read: 1 Timothy 2:3

As we continue our walk through 1 Timothy 2:1-8, we read in 1 Timothy 2:3 that a result of praying for all people and praying for those in authority is that it “is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.” God loves when we, as His children, obey Him and His Word. When we know that something is good and acceptable in the sight of God, that ought to be something we walk in every day of our lives. Knowing God calls it good and acceptable should be motivation enough to live it, breathe it, share it, and be transformed by it. Prayer is such a privilege for us and that is why prayer is so difficult. God desires fellowship with us because He knows how prayer changes us and He loves for our lives to look just like Him. We have discussed prayer in other devotions before, but the truth of what God does for us in prayer is worth examining again. God knows we struggle with prayer, so His Holy Spirit helps us in praying. God tells us in Romans 8:26-27 that His Spirit, living in us, helps us because we do not know at times what prayers to offer. Because we struggle, the Holy Spirit, who knows our need, prays on our behalf with groanings that can’t even be expressed through words. Also, the Holy Spirit prays according to God the Father’s perfect will on our behalf in the presence of God the Father. Let’s do what is good and acceptable to our God, and let’s pray.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about what He considers good and acceptable? 2. How will you live your life differently, daily walking in what is good and acceptable to God?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

This week, our focus is going to be on 1 Timothy 2:1-8. We are focusing on prayer as a church but also as individuals. God clearly tells us in 1 Timothy 2:1 that we are to pray for all people. As we pray, God tells us that we need to intercede on behalf of all people and that we are to give thanks for all people. One thing we ought to pray ea...

Day 2

God continues to challenge us in our prayer lives. As we read 1 Timothy 2:2, we are to specifically pray for all kings and all who are in authority. God does not tell us to pray for those in authority whom we like. God also does not tell us to pray for those in authority we agree with or are Christians. God tells us to pray for all who are in...

Day 4

We read some incredibly good news today. In 1 Timothy 2:4, God makes it perfectly clear that He desires everyone to be saved! Some people teach a false doctrine today, that God has chosen some to be destined for heaven and others hell. The mindset that God would choose to create people so that He could send them to hell is absolutely horrible...

Day 5

God has always been One, and He has always existed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. No one has ever seen God and we know this because God tells us this in John 1:18, John 6:46, 1 John 4:12, and 1 John 4:20. But God lovingly revealed Himself through our Lord Jesus Christ, and we know this because Christ said, in John 14:6-7, Jesus *said to him...

Day 6

As we saw in the devotion on Day #4, God, in His incredible lovingkindness, mercy, and grace, desires the entire human race to be saved. God also desires every born-again believer to know Him as intimately as possible. We continue in this good news today as we read 1 Timothy 1:6. God reminds us that Christ gave Himself as a ransom (a substitu...

Day 7

We finish up 1 Timothy 2:1-8 today as we read 1 Timothy 2:7-8. We find that God led Paul to remind Timothy that Paul had been appointed/chosen by God to be a preacher and an apostle. As we have seen in earlier devotions, we know that an apostle is someone who actually saw our Lord Jesus Christ in His risen body from the grave. Therefore, we a...
