Day 5

Scripture to Read: 1 Timothy 2:5

God has always been One, and He has always existed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. No one has ever seen God and we know this because God tells us this in John 1:18, John 6:46, 1 John 4:12, and 1 John 4:20. But God lovingly revealed Himself through our Lord Jesus Christ, and we know this because Christ said, in John 14:6-7, Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. 7 If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.” When Jesus said to Thomas, “and have seen Him,” Jesus was referencing Himself. God being eternal is hard for us to grasp with our finite mind. Since God is infinite, our limited knowledge sometimes frustrates us to understand all we’d like to understand about God. The good news is that God, in His lovingkindness, gave us His Holy Spirit to live in us so we could have a fuller knowledge of Him. God also gave us His Holy Word to know the fullness of Him and who we are in Him. Prayer is the conduit God has given us to thank, praise, glorify, worship, ask, seek, find, know, and petition Him. The good news is that Christ is our mediator between us and God the Father, so through Christ we have total access to God’s throne of grace. Let’s take full access of this incredible gift from God.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about who Christ is as our mediator and all we have through Christ? 2. How are you taking advantage of this incredible gift to fellowship with God each day at His throne of grace?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

This week, our focus is going to be on 1 Timothy 2:1-8. We are focusing on prayer as a church but also as individuals. God clearly tells us in 1 Timothy 2:1 that we are to pray for all people. As we pray, God tells us that we need to intercede on behalf of all people and that we are to give thanks for all people. One thing we ought to pray ea...

Day 2

God continues to challenge us in our prayer lives. As we read 1 Timothy 2:2, we are to specifically pray for all kings and all who are in authority. God does not tell us to pray for those in authority whom we like. God also does not tell us to pray for those in authority we agree with or are Christians. God tells us to pray for all who are in...

Day 3

As we continue our walk through 1 Timothy 2:1-8, we read in 1 Timothy 2:3 that a result of praying for all people and praying for those in authority is that it “is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.” God loves when we, as His children, obey Him and His Word. When we know that something is good and acceptable in the sight of G...

Day 4

We read some incredibly good news today. In 1 Timothy 2:4, God makes it perfectly clear that He desires everyone to be saved! Some people teach a false doctrine today, that God has chosen some to be destined for heaven and others hell. The mindset that God would choose to create people so that He could send them to hell is absolutely horrible...

Day 6

As we saw in the devotion on Day #4, God, in His incredible lovingkindness, mercy, and grace, desires the entire human race to be saved. God also desires every born-again believer to know Him as intimately as possible. We continue in this good news today as we read 1 Timothy 1:6. God reminds us that Christ gave Himself as a ransom (a substitu...

Day 7

We finish up 1 Timothy 2:1-8 today as we read 1 Timothy 2:7-8. We find that God led Paul to remind Timothy that Paul had been appointed/chosen by God to be a preacher and an apostle. As we have seen in earlier devotions, we know that an apostle is someone who actually saw our Lord Jesus Christ in His risen body from the grave. Therefore, we a...
