Scripture to Read: 1 Corinthians 10:32–33
God has made it clear that our life choices are to bring Him glory. We read today in 1 Corinthians 10:32–33, “Give no offense either to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God; 33 just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit but the profit of the many, so that they may be saved.” God gives another warning, that as Christians, we must be careful not to offend others or His church, but again, to live in a way that honors Him. We must seek to please those around us. This ties closely to what God had Paul write in Philippians 2:3–4, “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.” God has called us, as Christians, to adapt ourselves to the interests of others. Most people only seek after their own interests. But God wants us to seek the benefit of the many. When we seek the interests of others, God will open up opportunities for us to share the message of salvation, allowing others to choose to surrender to Christ as Lord and Savior and be saved from the power and penalty of sin. Living for Christ costs us everything, for we must die to ourselves daily to live fully for Him. But what we choose to die to is garbage compared to the riches God gives us in Christ.
