Scripture to Read: 1 Corinthians 10:27
God knows that He has called us to be His witnesses to everyone He brings across our path and to everyone He sends us to reach. Our Lord Jesus told us in Acts 1:8, “but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” To witness for Christ means that we share Christ and all He has to offer to those who do not yet know and follow Him. For the Christians in Corinth, God had Paul tell them in 1 Corinthians 10:27, “If one of the unbelievers invites you and you want to go, eat anything that is set before you without asking questions for conscience’ sake.” God did not want the Christians in Corinth to be shut off from nonbelievers. Obviously, the believers in Corinth had asked how they could be a good witness for Christ and still eat what a nonbeliever offered them. God had Paul tell them that if an unbeliever invited them to a meal, they should go and simply eat whatever was served and not ask any questions about whether the meat had been sacrificed to idols or not. This way, their conscience could be clear and they could still have the opportunity to share Christ and His plan of salvation with them. As Christians, we must go where lost people are so that we can share the love of Christ with them, knowing this is part of God’s plan to reach them.
Challenge & Application
Why is it critical that all Christians build relationships with non-Christians?
How are you engaging with people who are lost without Christ in the realm of influence that God has given you?
