Day 6

Scripture to Read: Romans 12

Let’s go back to where we started on day one as we begin today. We looked at what we believe about worship here at Highview Baptist. “Corporate worship is typically the first place to connect with our church family. In worship, we gather to hear who Jesus is, what He has done, and how to have an ongoing relationship with Him through bible preaching and song. As this revelation is given to us, we respond passionately through praises, giving of our resources, also observing baptisms and communion.” So, tomorrow we will come together as a body of believers to corporately worship our Lord Jesus Christ, connect as brothers and sisters in Christ, hear all about our Lord Jesus Christ through the preaching and teaching of His Word and the singing of strong biblically-based music. BUT if we do not come prepared, we can easily go through the motions, put on a fake smile, act as if we are all there, and totally miss what our Lord wants to do in us and through us. That is why God tells us in Romans 12:1, Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. We cannot intimately worship our Lord if we do not present our bodies fully to Him as living and holy sacrifices. We must completely surrender our minds (thoughts), hearts (feelings), and wills (choices and attitudes) to our Lord to worship Him well. As we prepare today and before we arrive tomorrow, surrender all to Him.

Challenge & Application

· What do you need to do to be totally surrendered and prepared to worship our Lord Jesus Christ each day? · How will you help invest in others to prepare to worship our Lord each day?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 2

As we consider what “worship” is, we must remember that worship is a choice we make each day. We choose to worship God and walk in obedience to Him, or we choose to worship the things of this life and walk in obedience to them. God has given instructions and warnings about worship throughout His Word. The word “worship” is used eight times in...

Day 3

Worship is most definitely a critical part of us connecting with our Lord, not only with other believers in corporate worship but also daily in our worship of our Lord. In Psalms, many Scriptures speak to our worship of our Lord God Almighty. In Psalms 2:11, God’s Word says, Worship the Lord with reverence And rejoice with trembling. God is r...

Day 4

Worship is a constant reminder to us of our need for our Lord, our need for His power, presence, provision, peace, grace, mercy, and forgiveness. The Good News is that we have ALL of these gifts from our Lord because He dwells in us. But when we worship Him, we are constantly reminded of all we have in Him and through Him so that we do not lo...

The references to “worship” in Matthew, Mark, and Luke are all tied togeth...

Day 7

As we finish up this week, God has taught us much about worshipping Him. Today our focus is on Philippians 3:3, as God led Paul to write, for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh. As followers of Christ, God wants all of us to know without a doubt who we ar...
