Day 2

Scripture to Read: Exodus 33–34

As we consider what “worship” is, we must remember that worship is a choice we make each day. We choose to worship God and walk in obedience to Him, or we choose to worship the things of this life and walk in obedience to them. God has given instructions and warnings about worship throughout His Word. The word “worship” is used eight times in Exodus and seven times in Deuteronomy. Three of those eight times in Exodus and five of those seven times in Deuteronomy that God’s Word speaks of worship are warnings NOT to worship any false gods or anything else (Exodus 20:5, Exodus 23:24, Exodus 34:14, Deuteronomy 4:19, Deuteronomy 5:9, Deuteronomy 8:19, Deuteronomy 11:16 Deuteronomy 30:17). The other five times in Exodus and the other two times in Deuteronomy that God’s Word speaks of worship are either reminders of where to worship God, to go and worship God, or that the people, or Moses, did worship God (Exodus 3:12, Exodus 12:31, Exodus 24:1, Exodus 33:10, Exodus 34:8, Deuteronomy 6:13, Deuteronomy 26:10). The warnings of not worshipping the stuff of this world should speak loud and clear to each of us. With our social media accounts, favorite sports, video games, T.V. shows, etc…we can easily spend our time “treasuring” the stuff of this world and choosing not to treasure God and His Word (Psalm 119:11). Let’s examine what we are worshipping each day and if it’s not God and His Word, then make a change.

Challenge & Application

· What would you say you worship more each day, God and His Word or the stuff of this life? Why? · How will you choose to guard your heart so that you do worship God and His Word daily?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Worship is most definitely a critical part of us connecting with our Lord, not only with other believers in corporate worship but also daily in our worship of our Lord. Worship is a constant reminder to us of our need for our Lord, our need for His power, presence, provision, peace, grace, mercy, and forgiveness. But when we worship Him, we are constantly reminded of all we have in Him and through Him so that we do not lo...

Day 7

As we finish up this week, God has taught us much about worshipping Him. Today our focus is on Philippians 3:3, as God led Paul to write, for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh. As followers of Christ, God wants all of us to know without a doubt who we ar...
