Scripture to Read: Romans 10:9–13
Yesterday’s devotion finished with the challenge that we each must daily live and share God's message of faith in Christ. So, God used Paul to give us His message in Romans 10:9–13, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13 for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” God makes His message clear, so each person knows what it takes to place their faith in Christ and walk daily with Him. First, we must confess with our mouths that Christ is Lord. Surrendering to Christ is never a private decision, but we must proclaim Him boldly when we surrender to Him (Ephesians 6:19–20). Second, our faith in the resurrection of Christ is critical. God even led Paul to write in 1 Corinthians 15:14, …if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. The resurrection is the key because Christ defeated sin and death so that we can have freedom and life through Him. Finally, through Christ, we’re made righteous, we’re saved, our expectations are exceeded, and we abound in His blessings.
