Day 6

Scripture to Read: Romans 5:18–19

God’s Word ought to excite us and challenge us every day of our lives. If God’s Word is not changing us, the problem is not with God's Word, but the problem is with us. When we hunger and thirst more for what the news outlets are telling us, what we receive from our social media accounts, or what we get from “good” books or podcasts, we are missing the treasure of God’s Truth that comes straight from Him. Today, God continues to repeat for us all He has offered us through Christ. We read in Romans 5:18–19, “So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men. 19 For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.” It’s easy for us to blame Adam for our sinful nature since God tells us that it was through Adam’s transgression that we deserve God’s condemnation for our sins. But on the flip side, God gives us the wonderful news that Christ’s “one act of righteousness” resulted in all people being fully forgiven of all sins before God the Father. Though the forgiveness is complete and paid for, many refuse this gift from God through Christ. Why would anyone refuse this fantastic gift of freedom? Because people have been blinded (2 Corinthians 4:3–4) by the spiritual forces of darkness in this world. Be a light in this dark world so all may know Him.

Challenge & Application

What needs to change in your life so you’re not distracted from the treasure of God and His Word each day? How are you being a light to those still walking in darkness?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 2

As we continue, we read in Romans 5:13, “for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.” At first glance, we would think that God was saying through Paul that until the Law was given to Moses, God did not count people's sins against them because there was not yet any law to break. But God is not saying th...

Our journey through Romans is incredibly enlightening, as God shows us His incredible grace through our Lord Jesus Christ. As we learned yesterday, even though God’s Law had not yet been given, people were still accountable for their sinful nature. Today, we continue as we read in Romans 5:14, “Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses...

Day 7

What an incredible week of learning from God and His Holy Word. Today, we read in Romans 5:20–21, “The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, 21 so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” ...
