Day 6

Scripture to Read: Romans 3:19–20

We ended yesterday with the full understanding that there is no fear of God among the human race, and that is why people choose to walk in their sin. God reminds us today, in Romans 3:19, that His Law was given so that no one could have an excuse for sinning. God’s Law points out the fact that the entire human race is sinful. A great example that proves our sinfulness is that no one had to teach us how to sin. If we had loving parents, grandparents, or other loving authorities in our lives, they constantly told us what we should and should not do. But none of these loving authorities ever had to teach us how to sin. None of these authorities taught us how to lie, steal, cheat, gossip, get angry, have impure thoughts, be hateful, be unkind, etc. Now, God’s Law points out our sin; therefore, God’s Law is a constant reminder that we are accountable to God for our sin. The other Truth God tells us in Romans 3:20 is that no one could ever be reconciled to Him by doing all that His Law commands. Why? Because everyone has broken God’s Law, and even if only one of God’s Laws is broken by us, we become guilty of breaking all of His Laws (James 2:10). So, God is making it clear that His Law is used to show us how sinful we are. The entire human race needs a relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ so that everyone can be reconciled to God.

Challenge & Application

· What does God’s Law show us about ourselves and about the entire human race? · How is mankind reconciled to God, and how are you sharing this good news with those who still need Christ?

Day 1

As we begin, we have to do a little recap from our last devotion. We must remember that God’s Word was not written in chapters and verses, but much of God’s Word, especially the New Testament, was written as letters to believers. Remember that in Romans 3:8, some people were slandering Paul, saying Paul had taught them that they should do evi...

Day 2

Over the next few days, we will unpack what God led Paul to write in Romans 3:10–18. What’s unique and awesome about God is that He had Paul quote directly from the following verses in the Old Testament: Psalms 14:1–3; Psalms 53:1–3, Psalms 5:9, Psalms 140:3, Psalms 10:7, Isaiah 59:7, and Psalms 36:1. As we look at each of these verses in Rom...

Day 3

Today our focus is on Romans 3:13, as God continues to paint the bleak picture of the human race. We must remember that Paul penned Romans about 2,000 years ago, and the verses in Psalms were penned around 500 to 1,000 years before Romans was written. Now, why is it important to remember when these books of the Bible were written? Because we ...

Day 4

As we examine God’s Word and all He’s communicating with us, God had Paul quote from Psalms 10:7 and Isaiah 59:7 in Romans 3:14–15. It’s incredibly painful to see how devastating sin is in each human being’s life. We know that sin results in death (Romans 5:12, Romans 6:23, Romans 6:16, Romans 8:6, Galatians 6:8), but that does not stop peopl...

Day 5

Today we finish up the quotes from the Old Testament in Romans 3:10–18. But this last quote from Psalms 36:1 is another strong indictment against the sinfulness of the entire human race. God says in Psalms 36:1, Transgression speaks to the ungodly within his heart; There is no fear of God before his eyes. God states that every human’s sinfuln...

Day 7

This week God has taught us much about the human race’s desperate need to surrender to Christ as Lord. The sinfulness of humankind is evident all around us, and the only cure for sin is Christ’s blood that was shed to pay the price for the penalty of sin. As we finish with Romans 3:21–23, God tells us that His righteousness has been revealed ...
