Scripture to Read: Revelation 2:11
As we have learned this week, a life that is faithful to Christ to death is a life that will live eternally with Him. On the contrary, a life that is lived apart from Christ is a life that will experience eternal death. As we close out this week, we read in Revelation 2:11 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt by the second death. Having our eyes and ears opened to all that our Lord speaks to us is critical to walking in obedience to Him. We hear Him through His Word as we read, study, and memorize His Word. Also, His Holy Spirit lives in us, and He speaks to us daily through His Spirit. We must choose to walk in deep intimacy with our Lord so we recognize His voice, especially with so many distractions coming at us in this world. If we are not careful, we can miss the voice of our Lord when we allow social media, movies, TV, and stuff we read and listen to on the internet to consume our time. We need to examine how much time we’re spending with our Lord, talking to Him, and how much time we’re in His Word. Then we need to compare our time with our Lord to how much time we are consumed by these other things mentioned above. God wants our eyes and ears to be wide open to Him and His Truth. God wants all of us to overcome this world and to live victoriously for Him, but the choice is ours.
Challenge & Application
1. What did God teach you today about having an ear to hear what He is speaking to you each day?
2. How are you guarding your time with your Lord and being in His Word so you do hear Him clearly?
