Day 3

Scripture to Read: Matthew 6:20

One of the things our Lord God Almighty always does is that He never tells us what not to do without giving us what we should do. Our Lord Jesus Christ tells us in Matthew 6:20, “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal.” Storing up treasures in heaven at first seems like a goal that is out of reach. But when we consider what Christ has given us, our greatest treasure is Him and the salvation He has provided to free us from sin's bondage. Though we can’t see the fullness of the treasure we have in Christ, we know this from 2 Corinthians 4:7, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves.” So, God used Paul to remind us that we have this precious treasure within us and that the power we have is all God and not from ourselves. Then, God had Paul tell Timothy, and of course us, in 2 Timothy 1:14, “Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you.” The treasure mentioned in 2 Timothy is the good news about salvation through personal faith in Christ Jesus our Lord. One of the greatest treasures we can store up in heaven is making sure we are telling others here about Christ so they have the opportunity to be transformed by the power of our King and follow Him wholeheartedly.

God said i...

Day 6

Since our eye is the lamp of our body, as Jesus said in Matthew 6:22, we must guard what we choose to look at, read, study, watch, and focus on. God reminds us in Ephesians 5:8–9, “for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light 9 (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousne...

Day 7

Jesus gives us this warning in Matthew 6:23, “But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!” What Christ is saying is that when we choose to be spiritually blind, our body reaps the consequence of being empty of God’s Word. Our spiritual bucket must b...
