Scripture to Read: James 2:14-26
God lovingly reminds us that if we truly know Him, then our lives are going to be lived differently. As we read James 2:14-26 today, we find Rahab mentioned again in James 2:25. What God is revealing to us through Rahab, and of course Abraham, is that our faith must have action. Remember how Rahab, in Joshua 2, proclaimed to the two Israelite spies all that she had heard that God had done on behalf of Israel. Rahab did not just listen to the stories of what God had done for the Israelites. Rahab took those stores about God to heart and she placed her faith in the same God the two Israelite spies worshipped. Rahab put her faith into action, as God declares in James 2:25, by asking this question through James, “In the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?” Rahab put her faith in God by sending the spies out a different way to protect them from harm. Rahab did not just talk about all the acts God had done, but she placed her trust in God to protect and deliver her and her family. Our faith must be lived out. To simply talk about all we see God doing in others is not true faith. God says it this way in James 2:17 “Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.” Let’s be sure and put our faith in God to action.
