Scripture to Read: Joshua 2:15-24
As we read Joshua 2:15-24 we see the promise that the two Israelite spies made to Rahab and the guidance that Rahab gave to the spies to keep them safe. God’s handiwork in our lives is incredible. God’s work in and through Rahab was incredible too. As we know, Rahab was a prostitute and would have been considered an outcast by the Israelite spies. God, though, led these spies to Rahab’s house and those spies found protection in Rahab’s home. God often works in ways that do not make sense to us. God makes this Truth quite clear in Isaiah 55:8 “‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,’ declares the Lord.” God works in and through anyone who surrenders to Him as Lord and King. God is not impressed with what we might think we have to offer Him. God states this clearly in 1 Corinthians 1:27 “but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong.” God is looking for humble people who willingly surrender to Him so He can use the humble as vessels of honor, sanctified by Him, to accomplish His work and will. Rahab became a vessel of honor because she willingly surrendered to the God of the Israelites. Rahab knew that the Israelites worshipped the One True God and Rahab did not want to be on the wrong side of God’s judgment. We must walk humbly before Him as well.
