Day 5

Scripture to Read: Hebrews 11

We switch gears a little today. Hebrews 11 is lovingly called the “Hall of Faith.” God led the writer of Hebrews to list many people who trusted God with all of their hearts to follow God as the One True God. One of the members of the “Hall of Faith” is Rahab. So, not only is Rahab part of the lineage of our Lord Jesus Christ, but she’s included in the “Hall of Faith” in Hebrews 11. If Rahab were to come back from the dead today and speak to us, she would not glory in her earthly heritage, even though she is part of the lineage of our Lord. Rahab also would not delight in being included in the “Hall of Faith” in the book of Hebrews. What we would hear from Rahab is her clear proclamation that she came to know the One True God as her God and King. She would talk of all that God did, even before she knew Him as her God, just as she did in Joshua 2. She would proclaim all she saw God do in her own life and the life of the Israelites after she was delivered from death and lived with the Israelites for the rest of her days. Rahab would declare her past as a prostitute is not what defined her, but that she was a child of the King defined her. God wants us to see that He takes and makes us brand new through our Lord Jesus Christ. Our past is GONE and our present, in Him, is who we are.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about your past and present? 2. How are you guarding your heart from being pulled down by your past and truly living in who you are in Christ?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

God’s plan of redemption has been laid out, even before the foundation of the world. At times, we as believers can think that redemption only started through Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. But God has been redeeming the lost since sin entered Adam and Eve in Genesis 3. Rahab is another individual in the lineage of our Lord Jesus Ch...

Day 2

Today we read Joshua 2:8-14. If we’re not careful, we can miss this incredible testimony that Rahab shares with the two spies. Rahab testifies how she, and all the people of the land, know that the Lord has given their land to the Israelites. Rahab also tells the two spies that the terror of the Israelites has fallen on all the people where s...

Day 3

As we read Joshua 2:15-24 we see the promise that the two Israelite spies made to Rahab and the guidance that Rahab gave to the spies to keep them safe. God’s handiwork in our lives is incredible. God’s work in and through Rahab was incredible too. As we know, Rahab was a prostitute and would have been considered an outcast by the Israelite s...

Day 4

In Joshua 6, we find Joshua led by the Lord to take the city of Jericho. Make sure and read all of Joshua 6 to get the full picture of all God did for the Israelites. But our focus today is on Rahab and her families’ deliverance. Because Rahab was faithful to the two Israelite spies and kept them safe, Joshua made sure the promise the two spi...

Day 6

God lovingly reminds us that if we truly know Him, then our lives are going to be lived differently. As we read James 2:14-26 today, we find Rahab mentioned again in James 2:25. What God is revealing to us through Rahab, and of course Abraham, is that our faith must have action. Remember how Rahab, in Joshua 2, proclaimed to the two Israelite...

Day 7

As we finish out this week, we have learned a lot about our own lives through the life of Rahab. Read back through Joshua 2 and Joshua 6:22-25 as a reminder of God’s faithfulness to Rahab. Spend some time today listing out all the ways you have seen God work faithfully on your behalf and on behalf of your family and friends. This is a good ex...
