Scripture to Read: 1 Peter 1:18-25
God’s redemption story is so incredibly powerful and one we need to share daily. Since Ruth is the story of redemption, today we examine 1 Peter 1:18-25 as an incredible reminder of our redemption story. As God led Peter to pen these words, we are reminded in 1 Peter 1:18 that our redemption was not purchased with anything this world has to offer. God wants us to clearly understand that all the riches of this world could not purchase us our salvation. God clearly states in 1 Peter 1:19 that our salvation was purchased with the precious blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. The fact that Christ appeared at the perfect time in history is further evidence that nothing can stop God’s perfect will from taking place. Because of Christ, we are believers in God the Father, who raised Christ from the dead so that our faith and our hope are in God the Father, through Christ (1 Peter 1:21). Because of all that God the Father has done for us, through our Lord Jesus Christ, we are to fervently love each other. As we know, loving each other is the second greatest commandment from our God and King (Matthew 22:37-40). Then God reminds us again that we have been born again, not with anything perishable, but we’ve been born again through God’s living and enduring Word (1 Peter 1:23-25). What a precious gift we have in Christ. Let’s share this incredible gift with everyone we can.
