Day 7

Scripture to Read: John 9:35–41

Jesus is always our encourager and comforter. Jesus had heard that the healed man had been cast out of the synagogue, and so Jesus found him. We read in John 9:35–38 Jesus heard that they had put him out, and finding him, He said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” 36 He answered, “Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?” 37 Jesus said to him, “You have both seen Him, and He is the one who is talking with you.” 38 And he said, “Lord, I believe.” And he worshiped Him. The healed man now knew that Jesus was the Messiah and worshipped Him. The beautiful truth about our Lord is that He will always reveal Himself to the hungry and humble. Jesus said in Matthew 5:6, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” Then, Jesus said in John 9:39, “For judgment I came into this world, so that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may become blind.” Jesus is our Righteous Judge because He took our judgment on the cross. He is the only One who can remove the spiritual blindness from those who seek Him. Some Pharisees who were there that day even asked Jesus (in John 9:40) if they were blind. Jesus told them in John 9:41, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but since you say, ‘We see,’ your sin remains.” All who claim to have spiritual sight are still guilty before God without Christ (Proverbs 26:12).

Challenge & Application

• How did Jesus reveal Himself to the healed man, what was the healed man’s response, and what do we learn from this? • How are people healed from spiritual blindness, and how can we help them be healed?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Jesus had just slipped away from the crowd who wanted to stone Him, and He departed from the temple. As John 9 opens, we read in John 9:1, As He passed by, He saw a man blind from birth. Nothing in Jesus’ life ever happened by accident. Jesus walked in God the Father’s perfect will every day of His life here on earth. God also desires us to w...

Day 2

Jesus did not look at the blind man’s sinfulness, but He knew this was an opportunity given to Him by God the Father to do the works of the Father (John 5:19, John 5:30, John 6:38, John 8:28, John 12:49, John 14:10). Jesus said in John 9:4–5, “We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work...

Day 3

Jesus healed people in different ways while He was here on earth. Sometimes, Jesus would speak a word and the person would be healed (Matthew 8:8–13). At other times, Jesus would touch them and they would be healed (Matthew 8:14–15, Luke 4:40). There were those who were healed simply by touching Jesus’ clothing (Mark 5:25–29). There were also...

Day 4

When God works miraculously, there will always be people who doubt what God has done. After Jesus had healed the blind man, the people who had been questioning him decided to bring him before the Pharisees. Since it was a Sabbath, the Pharisees immediately proclaimed that Jesus could not be from God because He didn’t keep the Sabbath. But the...

Day 5

Doubters are all around us. Some doubters are like Thomas (John 20:24–28) in that they believe wholeheartedly once they see with their own eyes. Others doubt because they don’t want to believe, but they would rather be argumentative and simply cause turmoil. In John 9:18, we read how the Jews would not believe the man who had been healed of b...

Day 6

There are times when God uses the “unlearned” and the “unwise” to teach the “worldly wise.” God loves to teach the arrogant through His beloved children. God tells us in 1 Corinthians 1:27–31, but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are str...
