Scripture to Read: John 9:24–34
There are times when God uses the “unlearned” and the “unwise” to teach the “worldly wise.” God loves to teach the arrogant through His beloved children. God tells us in 1 Corinthians 1:27–31, but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, 28 and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, 29 so that no man may boast before God. 30 But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, 31 so that, just as it is written, “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.” God is never impressed with man-made wisdom and knowledge. God used the healed blind man to teach the Pharisees that day as well. We read (in John 9:30–33) as the healed man spoke, “Well, here is an amazing thing, that you do not know where He is from, and yet He opened my eyes. 31 We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him. 32 Since the beginning of time it has never been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a person born blind. 33 If this man were not from God, He could do nothing.” God’s wisdom always overrules man’s wisdom. We must live with the same boldness as the healed man.
Challenge & Application
• According to what God taught you today, why should we never be intimidated by the wisdom and knowledge of this world?
• How has God shown you His wisdom through His Word, and how has He used you to share His wisdom with others?
