Day 7

Scripture to Read: John 4:25–30

Jesus would not leave any doubt in the woman’s mind about Who she was talking with. We read in John 4:25–26, The woman *said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called Christ); when that One comes, He will declare all things to us.” 26 Jesus *said to her, “I who speak to you am He.” Jesus declared Who He was and let the woman know that she had been talking with Messiah. Then we read in John 4:27–30, At this point His disciples came, and they were amazed that He had been speaking with a woman, yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why do You speak with her?” 28 So the woman left her waterpot, and went into the city and *said to the men, 29 “Come, see a man who told me all the things that I have done; this is not the Christ, is it?” 30 They went out of the city, and were coming to Him. The disciples arrived back with lunch and were surprised Jesus was talking with a Samaritan woman. Remember, Jews hated Samaritans, and men usually never spoke to women in public, but none of them asked Jesus anything. The disciples may have been afraid to ask or maybe they saw such a change in the woman that they didn’t feel the need to ask. The best part, though, is that the woman was set free from her sin. She went to tell the men what had happened, and they came to see Jesus for themselves. Changed lives share Jesus.

Day 1

Jesus’ ministry, while here on earth, reached into the lives of those who were spiritually hungry and often in desperate need. But those who are satisfied with their lives and who see no spiritual need within them are the ones who are usually the hardest to reach with the gospel of Christ. They have allowed the trappings of this world to capt...

Day 2

In reading back through John 4:1–6, God had John give us some details about where Jesus went and why He stopped where He did. We read in John 4:6–7a, “and Jacob’s well was there. So Jesus, being wearied from His journey, was sitting thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour. 7 There *came a woman of Samaria to draw water.” Jesus stopped a...

Day 3

Jesus was led by God the Father to a divine appointment to encounter the woman from Samaria. Make sure to see in John 4:8 that Jesus’ disciples had gone into the city to buy food, so Jesus was alone. So, to better understand why this encounter was so significant, we read in John 4:9, For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. There was a hatr...

Day 4

In John 4:7, we see that Jesus was the first to begin the conversation with the woman from Samaria by asking her to give Him a drink from the well. This woman would have been shocked for two reasons. First, men usually never spoke to women in public during Jesus’ time. Second, since she was from Samaria, she knew she was hated by the Jews. Bu...

Day 5

After Jesus spoke about the living water and never thirsting again, the woman responded in John 4:15, “Sir, give me this water, so I will not be thirsty nor come all the way here to draw.” The woman simply wanted her physical needs met. She was so focused on her daily needs that she missed that Jesus was there to meet her spiritual needs. Jes...

Day 6

It’s interesting that once Jesus shared with the woman about her past, she immediately changed the subject to the best place to worship God. We read in John 4:19–24, The woman *said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you people say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to w...
