Scripture to Read: John 14:1
Jesus had just told Peter he would deny Jesus three times before the rooster crowed. God does not have the Apostle John record Peter’s response, but we know from Matthew 26:35 and Mark 14:31 that Peter insisted, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!” And they all were saying the same thing also. So, even the other ten disciples jumped in and said they would all die with Jesus. Jesus knew their motives were on track, but they had no idea what they would face. So, Jesus continued to share with them what He knew they needed. Jesus said in John 14:1, “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.” Jesus knew their hearts were in turmoil, trying to figure out everything Jesus was telling them. Though Jesus had often told them about His crucifixion, none of them had comprehended all that Jesus had told them. There are times in our lives when we are in turmoil, in doubt, experiencing disappointment, or feeling overwhelmed and our Lord Jesus has what we need. Our Lord is our Peace, and He is the one we must rest and trust in. God even tells us in 1 Peter 5:7, "casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you." God knows us, and He is very aware of our every need. We must learn to cast our every care on Him. We must cling to Him and His Word daily, knowing without any doubt that He will take care of us.
