Day 7

Scripture to Read: Colossians 2:15

God the Father worked miraculously on our behalf through our Lord Jesus Christ so that we could be in a right relationship with Him. We know God the Father has forgiven us of all our sins because Christ’s shed blood paid the full price for our sins. But we also learn more of what God the Father did for us through Christ as we read Colossians 2:15, “When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.” What we read here is that God the Father disarmed the supernatural forces of evil and wickedness, which, by the way, continually plot against us. Since they plot against us, God has given us the battle plan in Ephesians 6:10–18 so we are ready and prepared for the daily battles that we face. God the Father made a public example of them because they thought they had defeated our Lord Jesus Christ by crucifying Him on the cross. However, God the Father ultimately triumphed over them through Christ as He went to the cross. Christ’s death provided the perfect sacrifice for all time, for all mankind, for the payment of all sins for all time. Then, through Christ’s victory over death through His resurrection, Christ opened the door for everyone who surrenders to Him as Lord and Savior to be given eternal life and to be in a right relationship with God the Father. Though the spiritual forces of wickedness still come against us, we know we can have daily victory through all God has given us (Ephesians 6:10–18).

Challenge & Application

As Christians, what does it mean for us that God disarmed the rulers and authorities? How do you prepare for the battlefield each day according to Ephesians 6:10–18?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Every Christian has been given so much through our Lord Jesus Christ. God gave Paul the opportunity to unpack some of the incredible gifts we have through Christ and what we must do because of what Christ has done for us. We read in Colossians 2:6–7, “Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 having been firmly r...

Day 2

Because we are Christians, we must daily walk with a guarded heart and mind. Our enemy, the devil and all of the spiritual forces of wickedness (Ephesians 6:12), would love to see us stumble and fall in our walk with our Lord (1 Peter 5:8). God therefore had Paul write this in Colossians 2:8, “See to it that no one takes you captive through p...

Day 3

God reminds us throughout His Word that Jesus is God in the flesh and that through Christ we have all we need to live this life for Him and His glory. God had Paul write in Colossians 2:9–10, “For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, 10 and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority.”...

Day 4

We are all born with a sin-filled, carnal, fleshly nature called “the old man” in Romans 6. God wants us to understand what happened to the “old man” when we surrendered our lives to Christ as our Lord and Savior. We read in Colossians 2:11, “and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the bo...

Day 5

When Christ became our Lord and Savior, we were given a brand-new life through Him. We were changed by Christ, so we are to live this life according to the change Christ has made in us. Since our “old man” (our “old self”) was crucified, it was also buried, just as Christ’s body was buried for three days after His crucifixion. God had Paul wr...

Day 6

One of the most precious gifts we receive when we surrender to Christ as our Lord and Savior is the complete forgiveness of all of our sins. Most Christians never grasp this truth and therefore live in the guilt and shame of their past. But God had Paul write this in Colossians 2:13–14, “When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncir...
