Day 1

Scripture to Read: Colossians 2:6–7

Every Christian has been given so much through our Lord Jesus Christ. God gave Paul the opportunity to unpack some of the incredible gifts we have through Christ and what we must do because of what Christ has done for us. We read in Colossians 2:6–7, “Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.” Because we have received Christ Jesus into our lives through His Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13–14) who lives in us, we must choose to walk in Christ. That means our lives must look like Christ, and as we live, we live in a manner worthy of our Lord (Colossians 1:10, Ephesians 4:1) so that our lives bring Him glory, honor, and praise. God says it this way in Ephesians 5:1–2, “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; 2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.” We are God’s children, and we are to imitate our Heavenly Father by loving Him with all we are and loving others as ourselves (Matthew 22:36–40). Christ loved us so much that He laid down His life for us, and we are called to do the same for each other (1 John 3:16). As we walk with Christ, our faith in Him is strengthened and grows; our thankfulness also becomes abundant.

Day 2

Because we are Christians, we must daily walk with a guarded heart and mind. Our enemy, the devil and all of the spiritual forces of wickedness (Ephesians 6:12), would love to see us stumble and fall in our walk with our Lord (1 Peter 5:8). God therefore had Paul write this in Colossians 2:8, “See to it that no one takes you captive through p...

Day 3

God reminds us throughout His Word that Jesus is God in the flesh and that through Christ we have all we need to live this life for Him and His glory. God wants us to understand what happened to the “old man” when we surrendered our lives to Christ as our Lord and Savior. We read in Colossians 2:11, “and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the bo...

Day 5

When Christ became our Lord and Savior, we were given a brand-new life through Him. We were changed by Christ, so we are to live this life according to the change Christ has made in us. Since our “old man” (our “old self”) was crucified, it was also buried, just as Christ’s body was buried for three days after His crucifixion. God had Paul wr...

Day 6

One of the most precious gifts we receive when we surrender to Christ as our Lord and Savior is the complete forgiveness of all of our sins. Most Christians never grasp this truth and therefore live in the guilt and shame of their past. But God had Paul write this in Colossians 2:13–14, “When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncir...
