Day 7

Scripture to Read: Colossians 1:21–23

We finish today with the incredible Truth God gives us in Colossians 1:21–23, And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, 22 yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach— 23 if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, was made a minister. God reminds us that we were once separated from Him because of our sin. But God had Paul reiterate the fact that He reconciled us to Himself through the incredible sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Christ, every believer is presented before our Heavenly Father as being holy and blameless. Many Christians talk about being fearful of standing before God the Father one day. But if we truly believe His Word, we have nothing to fear. Christ is our Advocate (1 John 2:1–2), and He is the One who speaks on our behalf before the Father. God reminds us in Colossians 1:23 that we must stand firm in His Truth and obey His Truth (James 1:22–25). Having a “head-knowledge” of God’s Truth is not enough to save us from the power and penalty of sin. Everyone must surrender completely to Christ as Lord and daily walk in submission to His authority so we’re not swayed by anything in this world.
