Day 3

Scripture to Read: Colossians 1:15

God never wants us to doubt the fullness of who He is and that Christ is God. Over the next few days, we will see how God perfectly declares who He is in the Person of Christ and all He’s done. Today we focus on what God had Paul write in Colossians 1:15, He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. Our Lord Jesus Christ was the perfect visible image of our invisible God. We know Christ is God, but God the Father tells us that Christ is the perfect representative of Him since no one has seen God the Father at any time (Exodus 33:20, John 1:18, John 6:46, 1 John 4:12, 1 John 4:20). God also makes this clear about Christ in Hebrews 1:3, And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. Then we read what God says of Christ in Philippians 2:6, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped. For Christ to be “the firstborn of all creation” means that Christ has always existed, even before anything was created. Of course, we know Christ always existed because He’s God. But God put it in His Word because He knew there would always be people questioning whether Christ is God. God destroys all doubts.
