Day 4

Scripture to Read: Colossians 1:16

God has shown us how magnificent our Lord Jesus Christ is and that Christ is God. As we continue through Colossians 1, we read this today in Colossians 1:16, For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. God continues to nail down the fact that Christ is God by proclaiming that everything in creation was made through our Lord Jesus Christ. The beauty of what God has given us in Colossians 1:16 shoots down every lie that says that Christ was a created being and that He is a god but He is not THE God. God’s Word explains it, so we can proclaim that Christ made the things we can see and even the things we can’t see. For instance, Christ created the angels which we cannot see. Christ gave them power to rule in the heavenly places. Some of those angels were cast out of heaven. “The Enduring Word” website describes the four falls of Satan. First, Satan falls from glorified to profane in Ezekiel 28:14–16. Second, falling from having access to heaven (Job 1:12, 1 Kings 22:21, and Zechariah 3:1) to being restricted to the earth (Revelation 12). Third, falling from the earth to bondage in the bottomless pit for 1,000 years (Revelation 20). Finally, falling from the pit to the lake of fire (Revelation 20). We rest in the Truth that Christ rules over all authorities, in heaven and on earth.
