Day 7

Scripture to Read: 2 Timothy 2:11-13

As we close out this week in 2 Timothy 2:11-13, through Paul, God proclaims an incredibly trustworthy statement. First, God reminds Timothy (and us) that if we have truly died with Christ, then we will also live with Him. We find this same Truth in Romans 6:8 and again in 1 Thessalonians 5:10. God never wants us to doubt that if we have surrendered our lives to Christ as Lord, the day will come when we will live together with our Lord forever. Second, God lets us know that if we endure the tests and trials of this life, that one day we will reign with our Lord Jesus Christ forever (also noted in Matthew 19:28, Luke 22:29, Romans 5:17, Romans 8:17). Third, God gives the warning that anyone who denies Christ this side of heaven, that Christ will also deny that person before His Father and even before the angels in heaven (also shared by our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 10:33, Mark 8:38, Luke 9:26, Luke 12:9). The last thing God shares through Paul is that even if we are faithless at times, God is always faithful. God cannot be anything but faithful because that is who He is. Even if all humanity were to choose not to believe in God, that would never change who God is, for He is Faithful and True (Romans 3:3, 1 Corinthians 1:9). God cannot deny Himself (Titus 1:2 and Hebrews 6:18), which is good news indeed.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about living with Him, not denying Him and about His nature never changing? 2. How are you living now so that you are prepared to reign with your Lord one day?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

As we ended 1 Timothy 1, remember that everyone from the region of Asia had deserted Paul and only Onesiphorus was there to help encourage Paul. God continues to lead Paul, as Paul writes to Timothy (and us) in 2 Timothy 2. There is no doubt that God is warning Timothy (and us) that, as Christians, we will have people turn their backs on us. ...

Day 2

God has called each of us to listen and learn from each other as followers of Christ. We read today in 2 Timothy 2:2, through Paul, how God is telling Timothy (and us) that everything we have learned from God’s Word from godly followers of Christ, we must also teach to others. God has given us His Word to feed us each day, to apply His Truth ...

Day 3

Through Paul, God encourages Timothy (and us) to walk through the difficulties of this life which we have been called to endure. We are to face the challenges “as a good soldier” of our Lord Jesus Christ. A soldier trains for battle, for the soldier recognizes that facing battles is what they have enlisted to do. As Christians, we surrendered...

Day 4

In 2 Timothy 2:5-7, God continues to use Paul to give Timothy (and us) illustrations of what it looks like to walk with Him each day as a follower of our Lord Jesus Christ. Yesterday, God used the soldier as an excellent illustration of what it looks like to walk with Christ. Knowing we face spiritual battles each day means we must be prepare...

Day 5

Through Paul today, in 2 Timothy 2:8, God reminds Timothy and us to “Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel.” Remembering that Christ is risen from the dead gives us hope. As a matter of fact, through Paul, God makes the point of the resurrection crystal clear in 1 Corinthians 15:13-17 “…if the...

Day 6

Today, we read 2 Timothy 2:9-10 and we are reminded that Paul was in prison for preaching the gospel. In 2 Timothy 1:16, we were first made aware of Paul’s imprisonment when God had Paul share how Onesiphorus was not ashamed of Paul’s chains. In 2 Timothy 2:9, God has Paul clarify that he was in chains because Paul was being persecuted for pr...
